I know I should be able to figue this out on my own, but I just can't. According to the web site, Epcot is open to 9 pm on Fri 10/20/06. Is this end time for non-resort guests, and resort guests get to stay 3 hours later until midnight? Or is 9 pm the close time for resort guests and non-resort guest have to exit earlier than that?

Thanks for all your help!

Ok actually FW is open till 7:00 and WS is open till 9:00, However because of EMH most of FW will be open until 10:00(EMH at Epcot doesn't really effect WS). And that means that at seven if you aren't a resort guest then you have to leave the park. Whenever you look at the WDW web site the closing time listed is regualr closing time, it does not take into account EMH.

Here is some more info from the EMH page regarding what will be open that evening.

Epcot®
Mornings:
Living with the Land, Mission: SPACE®, Soarin', Spaceship Earth, Test Track
Evenings:
Includes attractions listed above and Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, Journey Into Imagination With Figment, Mexico-El Río del Tiempo, Norway-Maelstrom, The American Adventure

OK, I am still confused. I've only been to WDW twice (and once was in '76). What's FW (Future World?)? What is WS (World Showcase? Is that a separate part of Epcot?) I think EMH means Extra Magic Hour. But in the explanation is says that each day one park will open one hour earlier or one park will stay open up to 3 hours later. It's the phrase "up to 3 hours later" part that I don't get. How do you know if Epcot is open 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hours later? Also, I will be a resort guest, but how to they know that I'm a resort guest? I mean do you have to show your resort ID before you ride a ride or make a purchase? How they make non-resort guests leave? Just curious.

Thanks again,

The "up to" 3 hours is just to cover themselves....bad wheter for example. I have never heard of it being anything less than the three hours. We have attended in down pouring rain.

EMH's are for resort guests only. If you are already in the park, about two hours before regular closing you will go to a wristband station (check with a cast member to find one). You will need to show your resort ID to get a wristband. Each member of your party will need to show their own resort ID so make sure everyone has their room key card with them. If you are entering the park around closing time you will receive the wristband at the entrace.

People without wristbands will not be allowed to enter any attractions/rides. There is a cast member at the entrance checking for the wristbands. Non Disney resort guests are allowed to wander the park.

Forgot to answer!

If you are entering Epcot from the front entrance...

Future World is the first part you reach when entering Epcot. It includes Living with the Land, The Living Seas, etc. FW is where you will find your bigger rides....test track, mission space, soarin', etc. Spaceship Earth (the gigantic golf ball as people call it) is found in FW.

World Showcase is to the back and is set up around the lagoon. Different lands/cultures are represented around the lagoon. You will find some smaller rides and shows and a lot of shopping and different cultural experiences.

Sorry, but the above information is mostly INCORRECT.

1) FW does NOT "close" all attractions at 7pm ANY night of the year.
Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Mission: Space, Soarin' (and sometimes) Turtle Talk with Crush... all stay open until IllumiNations begins EVERY night.

2) EMH takes place in both FW and WS, so both sections of the park will be open 3 hours after the posted closing time of WS.

3) Only WDW on-property resort guests are allowed to RIDE attractions after the "regular" posted closing time (usually 9pm, but at Christmastime it can be 9:30pm) but if you are not a WDW on-property resort guest you will not be "forced" to leave...
but, again, without an EMH wrist-band, non-resort WDW guests will not be allowed to RIDE the EMH attractions.

Here's how EMH works for all 4 Theme Parks.

Look up the POSTED open and close times
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/index?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage
Pick your Park. Pick your Month.
>> Click on your DATE> <<
Disney publishes dates and times approximately 6 months in advance.
Make sure to check back often, as times and events are subject to change as the actual dates get nearer. The hours listed do NOT INCLUDE the EMH hour(s) so they would be in ADDITION to the posted hours.

For EMH, click on the WORDS > "Extra Magic Hours" < on the official calendar.
Or click HERE:

Only WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed EHM privileges and it COSTS NOTHING EXTRA to attend the EMHs.
There are slightly different situations for MORNING and EVENING EMH's.

-------MORNING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a MORNING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed entry to THAT park on THAT day starting ONE HOUR before the posted opening time.
At least ONE person in your party should have a room key-card with them (sometimes EACH person needs to show one) to verify your current hotel status and gain entry.
So, only WDW resort guests will be ALLOWED INTO the park.
Once inside, only selected attractions will be open.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/extraMagicHour?id=CalendarExtraMagicHoursPage

-------EVENING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a EVENING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed to stay and ride attractions at THAT park on THAT day for THREE HOURS after the posted closing time. (Don't worry that the site says, "UP TO 3 hours." Thats just legalese... EMH will be 3 hours in the evening.)
You do NOT have to be in the park BEFORE scheduled closing time.
You CAN enter the park at any time during EMH and still get a wrist-band.
You can leave and re-enter the park at will (just like any normal time).

(So, YES, if MK is sched. to close at midnight, the EMH will run til 3AM! Yep, that's 3 in the morning. No, its not a mistake, that would be 3 full hours after the posted time.)
At Epcot, all of the EMH attractions in both FW and WS will remain open. (Ignore FW's "7pm Closing Time".)

All adults and children 3 years and older will be issued a room key-card when you check in to your WDW resort (if they are listed on your ressie). If they are issued a key-card, you will have problems with EMH, because EACH guest (except for very small children) will need to show a room key-card to a CM at special "EMH kiosks" set up in various locations throughout the park. Kiosks are well-marked and are very easy to spot as you are walking in the parks. They open up these kiosks approx. 2 hours before the "regular" park closing time, and a wristband will be snapped on by the CM to each adult and child.
So make SURE the check-in desk issues EACH person in your party a room key-card. An adult can hold onto all the cards for the kids, but don't forget to bring the cards to the park.
Most nights the CMs will SCAN your room-key-card so that it can only be used to get a single wrist-band that evening. The ride CMs will then check for these wrist-bands at each attraction before allowing guests to enter the queue.
So, even though non-resort guests may still be INSIDE the park, only those with wrist-bands will be allowed to ride any open EMH attractions.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You can enter the parks for EMH EVENINGS anytime... during "regular" hours, or even during the actual extended EMH hours.
This 1-hour morning EMH and 3-hour evening EMH rule applies at all 4 parks. Enjoy!

When we went to EPCOT evening EMH all of the FW rides were open until midnight - not ten. Also some of the FW rides didn't close at 7:00 on non-EMH nights, they stayed open until 9:00. They included Test Track and Mission Space. All of FW wasn't closing at 7:00 any longer. This was in early December.

As for non-resort guests having to leave at 7:00 - thats just not true. Non-resort guests can stay until at least 9:00 and later if they have a late restaurant seating and are still finishing up.

Also - At least Maelstrom in the WS is open for EMH. I believe the boat ride in Mexico is open as well. So EMH does effect the WS somewhat. While most of the countries are closed for walking around - a few are open for rides
