Extra Incentives for Cash on the Spot?

If we decide to buy from Disney at the end of the tour and pay cash, will the guide give us any extra discounts? Right now we're at $8 per point for AKL.

I doubt it. The financing DVD offers is probably a profitable part of the division's bottom line. At least I would suspect it to be if DVC is anything like Marriott. In 2006, 35% ($97 million) of Marriott’s profit from vacation ownership activities was from financing.

So I suspect payment in full is acceptable, but maybe not preferable. If you literally meant cash, then that might raise a few additional questions :)

The only other incentive if you buy on the spot are the double developer points. But I was also told that you could not get the points discount if you choose the dev points either.

There are no additional discounts if you come in with the ability to pay in full.

If you are prepared to pay "cash" on the spot, have them just put the whole thing on your favorite rewards credit card and pay it off immediately. We did that and took those benefits at the time.

Wow, they'll let you do that? Awesome (just like Buccholz in last night's Red Sox game). We've bought other big ticket items where the seller would only let us use a credit card for downpayments.

I know that Disney Visa card holders can get 0% for 6 months on their down payment up to a certain amount. But I am not sure if a payment in full via charge card is available. Im thinking not since every time they do that, it costs them money for the charge card transaction.

We bought our 150 AKV points on the Disney VISA card this spring. Just called our guide told him the number of points and gave him the card number. Real easy.

Thats cool. Your scored some mega-happy Rewards points on that charge. :)
Was this an add-on to a current contract or a first time buy?

We also put our original purchase and both add-ons on the Disney VISA.
We called VISA and told them to be anticipating a large charge to show up soon. Yes, we enjoyed our rewards!!

WE did it also. Put the whole amount on our credit card & payed it off immediately

I can go one better than that. I had an offer for a new credit card. So, when I purchased an additional interest from DVC, I put it on my Disney Visa so that the purchase would get my Disney rewards.

Then, after the purchase showed on the card, I applied for the new card, did a zero fee transfer of the balance from my Disney Visa to the new card, and had the introductory rate of 0% interest for 60 months. I put nothing else on the new card until the Disney purchase was paid for so that I would not end up with any other interest payments. It was great.

And the rewards points were a welcome bonus as well. :thumbsup2

Yup, we did it too 160 pts on the Disney Visa!! :thumbsup2 Then transferred the balance to our Capital One card for those reward points, but then paid it off as we had the money! Lookingg forward to getting more points that way if they offer CRV in the future. That is if my wife doesn't make us buy at BCV before then lol.:cool1: If you can do it, I highly recommed it! And if you can't afford it all and have to finance, the downpayment can go on it and you get 6 months interest free on the Disney Visa!

Wow, 0% for 60 months? Care to disclose that card?:goodvibes

Actually, it was not 60 months, now that I look back at it. It was "for the remainder of the balance" which would have gone about that length of time had I not paid it off sooner.

It was a Providian card -- which has since been bought out by Wamu (Washington Mutual).

I received a blurb for a new card just last week that would give 0% for 9 months or 1.9% for 2 years.

There are always those kinds of offers coming in. I have to keep throwing them in the shredder. But some of them -can- get rather tempting! :)
