extra days for hoppers

hi all,

i know it's been asked before, but i seem to have lost my link to the question + wanted to get 'recent' confirmation to the question.

we will be travelling to DLR & buying the 6 day hopper. i've heard rumours, stories, innuendo etc about adding extra days which can be done at the gate, for approx $5 or some small amount.

i've also heard that if you buy discounted tickets, you pay the difference at the gate before being able to add on extra days... eg, if you pay $250 for a 6 day hopper, but gate price is $270.00, you pay the extra $20.00 first, then $5 per day you want to 'extend' your hopper for.

is this correct & is it still done? just don't want to have to buy a 6 day hopper & a 3 day hopper for our 9 day stay...

When we did it we had bought the city pass and we got the value of the gate price and then were charged the difference. It was $30 more for us to add 4 more days I think. We did it the main gates. We tried to do it at CityHall because that's what I thought I was told but they wanted to charge me full price.

All correct except for one thing. You don't upgrade the tickets at the gates, you do it at the ticket booths.

For example, if I have a 3- day hopper that I wish to upgrade, do I have to do it before the first entry or before the last day is used?

i was under the impression that as long as you do it before using the last day, it was still ok.
anything after your last day would not be counted as an extension of the existing ticket and you may have to buy more.

Just currious and confused

If I have brought a 3-day hopper ticket - can I then add one more day for $5??

E.g. if I buy a 3-day hopper ticket online at Disney, it will cost me $199 and the 4-day hopper ticket $219 - would I then be able to, when I get to the parks, buy the 4th day for $5??

Or is it only, when you have brought as many days as you can. So if you buy 6-day you can do the $5 thing???

It seams silly if you can buy the 4th day for $5 - but you never know..

You can upgrade any DLR ticket as long as it's still valid. Unused older tickets never expired so still can be upgraded. Recent tickets have expiration dates. With current tickets when you use them they expire 13 days after the first use, or at the end of the day when they can still be used to enter.

You pay the difference between what you paid and the gate price of what you want. Often if you buy at a discount you loose it when upgrading. There are rare expcetions where you can retain your discount.


$5 is the difference in gate prices of the 5 and 6 day tickets. It's 5 dollars more per day after that. 3 to 4 days is more, first you would pay upto the gate price $15 and then to the 4 day $20 so in total is may be $35 more.



All of this above applies to upgrading one park per day tickets to park hoppers, or tickets of either type to APs. All can be done at the ticket booths outside the parks.
