Extra day - what to do?

We were just notified that our flight was cancelled so had to catch the next flight out the following day. Btw-- we now have Thanksgiving day in CA with no where to go. We already bought our Disneyland tickets so won't have any days left on them. Haven't tried to find one night stay in Disney hotel yet, but guessing they are probably booked up. And since we can't go to the parks, it probably doesn't make sense to stay there. We are flying out of LA the day after Thanksgiving.

Any ideas on what we could do for one day ( which is a holiday)? Also, ideas on where we could stay?

I was thinking the California Science Center (Space Shuttle Endeavour) and the rest of Exposition Park in Los Angeles, but they're closed on Thanksgiving.

All theme parks will be open, as well as strolling through beach communities-Santa Monica, Venice, etc. Maybe Universal Studios? Remember that Thanksgiving is now an American shopping holiday (note sarcasm), so all malls will be open.

What about spending the day at Laguna Beach? There are hotels available for under $200. You could also try Air B and B for a place closer to LA.

You could always schedule your extra day in the middle of the trip and do the parks on Thanksgiving. Even if you do the parks, you can still stay at an LAX hotel. Other options would be the Thanksgiving Buffett at DLH (not sure if they're doing it this year), making reservations somewhere at the resort or in LA for Thanksgiving, going to the movies, or almost everything in Griffith Park should be open on Thanksgiving.
