Extended verandas at the aft, worth it?

Seen these cabins right at the aft on deck 10. Are these any good? Would sea sickness be made worse?

Thanks

The 5e category on the Dream ad the Fantasy are decks 6-10.
Sea sickness is subjective. The more central you are to the ship the less likely you will encounter it.

People like them for many reasons. Seclusion so you don't have kids running up and down the halls, oversized verandahs, sometimes have chair loungers or full loungers, has a large covered area in case of bad weather. Generally favorable views of ports and the ship wake as it sails. Close to adult venues, cabanas, palo and remy, animators palate.

Some cons include reports of soot being deposited as a result of the smoke stacks, far from the front of the ship, extra vibration during docking maneuvers.

Neutral things include: the bed faces side to side of the ship instead of front to back (this matters to some people).

I have had two 5e cabins in my time with DCL. Enjoyed both immensely for different reasons. We tend to spend more time in our cabin than most and appreciated the extra outdoor space. Once because we traveled with family and liked having them come hang out. The second time because it was the huge wraparound the side of the ship which allowed a great view of fireworks and castaway cay.

It is not a MUST room, and isn't on our upcoming trip, but they are very nice if you know what you want out of your space.

When i say they are more than worth it, i mean it. Of course everyone has different opinions, but wow i am specifically looking for aft rooms on our may cruise. We went on one in july and were assigned a deck 7 aft extended and we were skeptical; worried about seasickness, etc. Honestly, as strange as this may sound, i believe that staying in the back actually helped with motion (I think being in the back from start of the cruise, and during downtime tones down movement as opposed to being used to mid, and moving aft. I felt MINIMAL movement and i am prone to motion sickness☺️). I say take the leap and go for it. Only issue we slightly had was vibration but it was minimal and easy for us to get over.
edit: also we experienced minimal soot. We were worried about this as well, and saw almost none. The crew did a great cleaning job. And not to mention.. Castaway Cay views and any other port views are amazing. We feel that staying midship the view just isn't the same as being on the back with a "private" feeling view, all to yourself (not shared with the hundreds to the left and right, up and down)

We were randomly assigned one of the handicap accessible aft rooms on deck 8 of the Dream last year (I have no idea why). We LOVED it. We expected to hang out on the top deck in the adult areas and spent most of that time on our veranda instead. Came with loungers and enough room to throw a party. Too bad it was just us. The vibration was minimal to us, although we aren't prone to sickness either. I don't remember any soot.

The views of Nassau and Castaway Cay were truly awesome. We sat out there and watched both of those islands get smaller and smaller as we sailed away. We still talk about that room.

We had 3 adults in one of the aft verandas. It was only a three night cruise. We all wish it was a longer cruise, we loved the cabin and the veranda.

Loved it. Lots of room. I find that it's easier to focus when you look outside (the background doesn't move as much as when you are on the sides).

And I take ginger pills for sea sickness. ;)

I had a 5e on deck 10 last year. I agree with the pros and cons above. A good and bad on deck 10 is -- a quick walk up to cabanas, but negative is the noise of chairs above you from cabanas, esp pirate night

Ooohhh! We have one of those on our cruise in June - what cabin were you? We're 10658! Been hoping someone can tell me if it's a good one for fireworks...

We have an aft cabin on deck 7 with extended verandah for our next cruise. We wanted something far away from kids running up and down the halls. We've never had an aft cabin, so this will be a new experience.

I LOVE these cabins on deck 7. The hall is a little wider back there, plus you feel so secluded. We had adjoining 7192 and 7194. Loved them so much, we booked them again for an upcoming trip in April. Heaven!

We're in 7190. Can't wait!

Were you able to book that cabin directly? Or were you put there from a guarantee booking? Just curious because I've tried to book those corner cabins before but have been unsuccessful. There is a video floating around of that cabin (or the one on the opposite side - don't recall which). That balcony goes on forever!

We did the GTY rate. To be fair, we did not book on opening day, so that may have had something to do with it. Maybe if you're platinum or gold status, you may have better luck. It was torture waiting on the room assignment.

I don't think they open up those rooms on opening day. I think the only way to get those corner rooms is by booking GTY. You are lucky lucky lucky!!!

Here is the video -

Have fun!

Yes, 10658 should have a pretty good view of the fireworks, just remember you have the pool deck bump out to contend with. We were in rooms 8188 and 8682 (the corner room). 8682 was spectacular for viewing the fireworks.

I choose this cabin myself for my September 2015 cruise. I booked my September 2017 cruise on opening day for gold members and got the corner room 10158 (again) and the room next to it. Most of the 5E rooms were booked quickly before bookings began for the regular cruisers. So twice I choose that cabin myself.

I'm going to be the voice of dissent. I'm not a fan.

On the Magic, the accessible balconies are at the back (except for the brand new one added during the re-imagining). Not a fan. Yes, the balconies are huge but the motion is bad.

I have fewer sea sick issues with cabins forward because it's more of an up/down motion, then the side to side shimmy of the aft.
