Does anyone know if it is possible to have or has anyone had a reception that was longer than the usual 3-4 hours? My husband is Danish and they usually have very long receptions with all kinds of toasts, songs, and skits to honor the couple and I would like to have the same here. We are still trying to decide whether or not we will choose Disney over having a wedding in New England where I grew up so any input would be helpful!

For a Wishes wedding you can definitely extend the reception. There is an additional fee involved for the room and anything else you extended (DJ, food, beverage, etc).

Thanks for your reply. I am reading your PJ now and I was wondering how much DFTW quoted you for your reception extension?

I'm curious about this too! From what I thought I read, if you extended it for one hour, there is no charge. They will only charge if the extension is longer than an hour....but again, I'm not positive on this. Hopefully, someone will know the answer to this one!! :)

To extend it for one hour is $650. $400 for the room, $250 for the DJ. She said we could cut the bar service during dinner so that didn't get extended too.

You can extend the DP for an hour for no fee, other than food service, but you need to consider time of year too. For our August wedding, most people would not want to be sitting outside for an extra hour with nothing to do.

I was quoted the same for my May wedding. $400 for the room, $250 for the DJ, and the bar price goes up if you don't adjust it somehow. And that was just for one hour, I'm sure it goes up even more for each hour you extend.

My planner also said for smaller weddings (we have 40 people) that it's not a good idea to extend only because things go a lot faster with less people (ie: the meal) so you don't really NEED the full four hours. We are cutting one hour so our guests can go back to the resorts to rest before the dessert party because we don't want them to be exhausted from how long the day is.

We had a Wishes wedding last month and extended the reception by an hour. This was a great decision because everyone was out dancing all the way until the end and I don't think anyone would have wanted to leave after 4. We had about 100 guests though so it took a while for everyone to eat dinner...etc.

We were also charged $400 for the room extension and $250 for the DJ.

Thanks! My ceremony doesn't start until 7:30 so I may extend it for dancing, because come hell or high water we are going to take a break for fireworks too. :)
