dumb question, but I don't get it.
They say you get extended hours if you stay in a disney resort right?
So what do they do, go around telling everyone to go home unless they show them the room key? Make an announcement that the park is closing, then the resorters just stay??
:confused3

You have special check in points to get a wrist band. To get on the rides you must be wearing the band--colors do change from night to night week to week.

When a certain park has a Late night extended hours, all resort guests must go to one of the designated spots around the park and get a wristband. You must show the CM a room key to get your wristband. By having the wristband, it allows you to stay in the park and enjoy the attractions 3 hours longer than non-resort guests. Hope that helps.

You are only allowed to ride the rides after the official park closing with wrist bands. You must show your room key towards the end of the day to get a wrist band.

At least this is how I understand that it works since I haven't participated in the last EMH yet.

Onsite guests can get a wristband by showing their room key (and sometimes they may ask for ID). Anyhow, after the official closing time for the parks-- only those w/ wristbands are allowed on the rides/attractions. Now, off site guests can still mill about in the stores and such. They are supposed to check at the entrance to all the rides for wristbands on everyone in your group. Don't forget each person in your party will need their resort ID to get a wristband-- kids included.

By the way- No question is ever dumb!!

Can you get the wristbands after closing time? Like going from Epcot after Illuminations which starts at 9:00 to MK for EMH or do you have to get them 2 hours before closing???

You can get wristbands at any time during the EMH as well as that "2 hours before" window.

I understand about the wristbands etc...but I think the OP is trying to determine how they handle the people that don't have the wristbands...do they still get in line and when it's their turn for the ride..do the CM's tell them to leave, do they have someone posted at each ride entrance checking for wristbands?

I've always wondered these things too...thanks for asking this question.

They don't really make it into the line as there is a CM in front of the attraction looking for the wrist bands before letting the guests into the line area...and often you hear them explaining over and over what the deal is.

At the rides and attractions that were open for EMH at the MK in May there were 2 or 3 CMs stationed at the entrance looking at wrists as people got into line. If the wrist band was not in easy sight they asked to see the wrist band. I did not personally see anyone turned away but that is because I didn't see anyone try to get in line without a wristband.
I did speak to a few people who were just wandering around without a wrist band and when asked I explained the procedure to them [I was wearing my GOH badge so I quess they thought I was a CM]. Many of these people were resort guests but for some reason had no clue about EMH. Even after I explained EMH to them I was asked by a few of them if I was sure that there was no additional charge for EMH. The most frustrating ones however were some of the non-resort guests who insisted that they could get the wrist bands if they paid for them. I tried to tell them that this was true with the old e-night hard ticket events but not true with EMH but I could not get them to believe me. I hope none of them are still standing in line to buy thier wrist bands. :rotfl:

Thank you so much for all your answers, that totally clears it up for me!!

Is the procedure the same for the morning EMH? Do they check your room keys. Someone at work today said you could get in in early morning entry if staying off site, I disagreed but wondered how they monitor it in the morning.

Is there a limit to how many wristbands they will give out each night?

Also there is the closing annoucement of the speaker system saying the park is closing.

They'll check at the turnstiles. If your ticket is encoded ON your room key, then it's even easier. If you have separate tix, just have your room key ready too, in case someone asks. I've seen CMs who are really stringent on checking IDs, and others who are not.

There used to be a limit with the old E-Ride night, but the new EMH does not have a limit.
