Trying to decide whether we need Express Pass for dates with different crowd ratings. (It will factor into our resort decision - as I'd kind of like to try one of the new ones, but we've been spoiled by the included EP on previous trips.) I know we didn't always feel like we needed it, but it was quite a while ago, and I'm not sure where the cutoff would be.

For my wife and I, it's always worth it. Even on lower crowd days there are still those rides that seem to always have a wait. Now, we've never bought them separately, only get the perk with our resort stay. We like the proximity of the "big three" resorts so that's why we stay there. If we were not staying onsite, or at one of the value resorts we'd probably only get them when the crowd level was above 5.

I think it is always worth it, but it may not always be necessary. I tend towards staying onsite in a hotel that gives the EP in order to cover my bases. We also generally travel when school is out, which also tends to be higher crowd times.

My answer is two parts.

1) I would never pay for EP ever because the price is ridiculous IMO.

2) Having said that. For us staying onsite in a UO Luxury resort (preferably RPR) with the unlimited EP is part of the experience for us. The easy walking distance access to everything and EP is part of what makes UO a great vacation for us. We would never stay offsite and go to UO it just wouldn't be the same for us.

Having had EP because of staying onsite we could never go without, were to spoiled by it. But I wouldn't pay the price they want for it seperately. If they ever took away the EP from the onsite resorts we would have to re-evaluate our vacation choices.

Given you can stay at a Deluxe Universal resort for just over the same price as a Moderate at Disney, I'd say it's always worth it.

For us it is always worth it to stay at a resort that has it. But since we’re a family of 5 it’s kind of a no brainer. We most likely wouldn’t pay for it otherwise.
