Please give me the straight scoop on the Room Key/Express Pass story!!

I've been reading that showing the room key will let you ride over and over as many times as you'd like.

Then I started hearing that with the Room Key, you can only ride 1 ride per hour each day.

Which is correct????

I have a trip planned in December, and I want it to be the BEST for DHs birthday..... and he LOVES the Spiderman ride!!

TIA....

From what I understand, it's one ride per hour. So you can only use the room key for one Spiderman ride per hour, but you can also do other rides during that hour. So in the hour, you can do the Hulk, Spiderman, and Fearfall, for example and then ride them again during the next hour.

You also have access to the single rider lines and the Universal Express passes.

Thanks Barry-

The impression that I'd been given was that you could do Spidey in hour 1, Hulk in hour 2, Jurassic Park in hour 3..... etc.

I was having nightmares about doing a ride and having to wait an hour to do a different ride!! Yuk!!

You are such a help!!

Room Keys currently have Infinite Access at all rides. you go on one, and if you come around 10 minutes later, you can go again. your room keys must be scanned (each person needs thier own card) by the person at the front of the attraction. with your room key, you DONT need regular express tickets. your key is express enough.

for regular express, it's limited to one per hour or one at a time until the current one expires.

The Dark Marauder is correct according to the representative I spoke with at Universal. But, he also said that Universal reserves the right to limit OnSite Guest Express priviledges if the park is too busy.

Hopefully it won't be too busy when we are there in January. That perk is one of the reasons that we are staying on site. If I wanted to only go once per hour on a particular ride, I could use the Express Machines like we did last year when we stayed off site.

I thought I had read that they changed it! This is good news if you are not limited to one trip with your room key per hour. So if I read this correctly, they are always scanning the keys, but not limiting your access unless it is really busy?

I'm going on Nov 9 and 10th which are a Sat and Sun. At IOA, the only non-kid rides I do are Spidey and the barges(yes, I'm a ride weenie). I like to ride the rafts more than once, but once I get wet, I would hate to have to go somewhere else and then come back in an hour and be wet that whole time. Do you think it will be busy enough on the 9th and 10th that they will be restricting access?

I thought Earl said it was one ride per hour. Has it changed again?

Has anyone stayed onsite recently? CPM? :)

Hmmm... I saw them scanning cards when we were there last two weeks of August. I saw one employee, telling somone that they could only go in one hour, but they scanned the room key after they told them.. something to the effect of "You can use the key again in an hour for the same ride"

This was Spiderman in the afternoon when the waits were 45 minutes... last week in August.

I'll be there this weekend and get an answer...it may be the employees are saying one thing but you could actually keep riding without anyone stopping you.

We just got back yesterday. Stayed onsite at Royal Pacific. We were able to ride MIB & Spiderman back to back with no problem.
There was a 10 or 15 minute wait for each ride and the attendants swiped our room card each time.

The scanners that we use will report if a room key has been used within the past hour at the attraction, but there is no connection between attractions. As far as I know none of the attractions are currently limiting admission, but we have the option if it gets busy.

I e mailed them the question about the limit to hotel keys heres the answer they gave me:

Thank you for visiting Universal Orlando Online.

At this time there have not been any changes made to the Universal Express
access for onsite hotel guests. Please keep in mind that each person must
have their own room key to present at the attractions.

Please keep watching us here at http://www.universalorlando.com, as we will
have many exciting and new developments in the next few months.

Best Regards,

Guest Services

We're going the first week of December (before everyone gets out of school) and after Thanksgiving.

I'm hoping that things are calm enough for DH to ride Spidey back to back if he wants to....

Thanks again!!
