express pass helping a friend

I am trying to help some friends plan a 2 day trip to US/IOA. I haven't been there in several years, and when we went, we stayed onsite so I really need to do some research.

The couple asked me about buying express passes. My gut feeling is to wait and see if you need them, but I read on the Universal website that they can sell out. They are going during President's Week. Any opinions on what the likelihood is that they would sell out?

Usually, it's recommended that you wait until you are at the park to see if you really need them. Another indicator is the price. The higher it is, the greater the expectancy of large crowds.
