Express Pass at Universal Question

We are considering staying at a Universal hotel for 1 night in order to get the express pass for our days in the park. I am only familiar with Disney's fastpass. Are these done the same way? Are they only usable on the major attractions? My children are 48" and under so they will not be tall enough for the major attractions. Will we get enough use out of the express pass to justify the extra expense of the Universal hotel?

All attractions are covered except for Pteranodon (sp?) Flyers at IOA. Even if your kids don't ride the big rides, you will still get tons of use out of your FOTL (front of the line) privileges. It's one of the best perks out there.

BTW there is a Universal section on this forum -- just scroll down a little. They have always been helpful in answering my questions about US/IOA.

Have a great trip!

The only problem is that your FOTL pass is only good for the days you are staying in the hotel. so technically if you stay one night, it will be good for the day of and the day after. The FOTL pass is your key to your room and it has the check in/out day printed on it.

You can purchase them without staying onsite. Of course this adds up when there are a few of them. If I remember rightly they are about $25per day per park. We considered buying them in December but the lines were so short, we didn't need them.
