Express Monorail To Stop @ The Contemporary Resort

Something does not make sense...If I read the news clip correctly, the resort beam monorail will stop only at the GF and Poly but NOT MK...that does not seem right !!!

From the link...

  • Monorails on the Resort beam will stop at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort only.
  • Monorails on the Express beam will stop at the Magic Kingdom, Transportation and Ticket Center and Disney's Contemporary Resort.
The above changes mean that resort beam guests who wish to get to Epcot will have to first get to the TTC by using the Express beam, and then change to the Epcot beam. Alternatively, direct buses will serve the resorts for travel to Epcot.

That makes absolutely zero sense. So if I'm staying at the GF and want to get to MK, I will have to take a boat? Don't think so...

The express monorail is also on the outside of the resort beam in the Contemporary, with no way to cross the tracks. How are passengers going to exit the train and go down a floor?

ITA. We stayed at the GF in December. The best part is the 3 min monorail ride to MK and the 5 min boat ride back to the hotel. If you take the boat to MK, you have to go to the Poly first, then MK.

This is bizarre.

The Walt Disney World Resort Monorail System will be operating revised routes on both the Resort and Express beams over the next few months.

The following changes will be in operation February 3 - 5, February 9 - 12, February 23 - 26, March 2 - 5 2015, between the hours of 11am and 7pm.
  • Monorails on the Resort beam will stop at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort only.

I think someone has missed the most obvious thing here...resort guests don't have access to the Express beam from the resorts!

My "guess" is that the Resort Monorail will stop at TTC-Poly-GF-MK.

Express Monorail will stop at TTC-CR-MK.

The express monorail is also on the outside of the resort beam in the Contemporary, with no way to cross the tracks. How are passengers going to exit the train and go down a floor?

The platform at the CR is between the monorail beams.

You're right. I've been checking out some google images to figure out how it was even possible. I forgot you actually cross under the Express beam to get up to the resort beam.

My understanding(which could be totally wrong) from something I saw somewhere, is that they are having some sort of pipe leak issue at the Contemporary above the monorail station and that they are having to close down the Contemporary station to repair the problem. The rumor I saw was that they are just running the resort line from the Poly to GF and MK and back, but I don't know why they would leave out TTC? That doesn't seem to make sense.

Yeah, it sounds like the leak is probably around the resort beam so they're shutting it down entirely through the Contemporary and using the express as a backup - so the resort monorail only goes between GF and Poly. (Though you think it would include the TTC and the MK too but it would "ping pong" back and forth from MK to TTC and back and never go through the Contemporary...)

So maybe it isn't making a full loop - just MK to TTC and back again, to avoid CR?

I just want to be sure I can take the monorail from MK to Poly for my O'Hana reservation on 2/25!!!

wdwnewstoday has a report that also doesn't include the TTC on the Resort Monorail list,so it must be it is only going to be Poly-GF-MK and MK-GF-Poly.

So Poly and GF Guests wanting ot go to Epcot would have to take the Resort Monorail to MK and transfer there to the Express Monorail in order to get to the TTC for the Epcot Monorail or walk to the TTC or take an Epcot bus(available to MK Resorts during this time).
