My family will be visiting the Disney area for two days over Thanksgiving. I would like to go to all the different Resorts. We will not be going to any of the parks and will not be staying on the grounds. Are we able to just drive to each Hotel and look around?

I think the deluxe resorts would probably not give you too much of a problem since most of them have full service restaurants in them and are use to other guest coming through. You probably won't get to see a guest room but you'll be able to see the common areas (lobby, etc). Some of them are really nicely themed. Could you catch a meal at one of them? Seems like an awful lot of driving to just wander around the lobby.

Exploring the resorts is one of my favorite things to do in WDW! You'll be able to park at the resorts and explore, just tell the security guard at the gate that you want to have a look around, maybe have a snack and go shopping. Sometimes the security guards don't even ask, but either way you'll have to show a photo ID. Some resorts, like the Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge will give you a 3 hour Parking Permit. I don't know if they even regulate the permits because we have been known to park way longer than the 3 hour limit many times and have never had a problem.

Another way to make it even more fun, is to park at downtown disney (or one of the resorts for that matter), and then take disney transportation from resort to resort, (bus goes to all resorts) - or, you can take a boat from downtown disney to Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, Port Orleans. You can take a bus from one of those to a monorail resort, and hop to other resorts on the monorail. You can do the Epcot Resorts by boat or walking from one to another. And, when you're through, all the resorts go to Downtown Disney so you can fetch your car!

Leave the driving to disney! Have a wonderful time!

I also love exploring the resorts. I think it is a great way of planning where you will stay next time.

I usually drag my DW and 2 DDs to the Polynesian. I enjoy sitting in the lobby and having a drink or three.

If you get a chance check out POFQ. Very nice.
