Exploring resorts if staying at FW Campsites?

Hi-this will be our first time staying at a Disney resort (Fort Wilderness Campsites), and we are wanting to be able to explore some of the amenities at the other resorts. Will we need to have special access to get to the shops or activities offered at the other resorts? I understand that we will need to use the transportation methods (bus, monorail, ferry) to get to some resorts, but just curious as to whether we will be stopped if we are not staying on those actual resorts. Thanks!

Nope explore to your hearts desire, you will not be able to enter the pool area but otherwise, everything else is open.

Thank you for the info! Would we need our Magicbands all the time then to get access to the resort pool? How are they able to limit access?

Your MB isn't going to get you into a pool other than your own. They are coded to your resort, there is not pool hoping at Disney except between sister resorts like POFQ and POR. You will need you MB to get into your resort pool.

That is correct, your MB only work for your resort, Disney changed all of that so no pool hoping.

You can walk to Wilderness Lodge resort from Fort Wilderness- the path starts near the corrals, if you want to start with exploring Wilderness Lodge
