I was interested in taking the Tour of Alantis in Nasau on the Disney Cruise. However it says This excursion is not recommended for Guests with wheelchairs. I use a small travel scooter that can be taken apart. Does anyone know why it is not recommended for wheelchairs. I could use my walker but it says it is extensive walking so I do not think that would work. As anyone who uses a wheelchair or scooter taken this tour.

Thanks for your help.

My understanding is that curb cuts do not exist and most of the shops have stair entrances. These are probably the reasons.

Atlantis itself is w/c accessible but Disney does not have accessible transportation set up. There are some stairs, but there are also elevators so you would be able to do this tour with some modifications. You may need to set up transportation on your own and then purchase the tour once at Atlantis ( it should be around the same cost) or speak with Special Services in advance to see if, once onboard, the shore ex manager can arrange this for you. I know of several people using scooters or wheelchairs that have enjoyed seeing Atlantis and the aquarium, etc. Nassau has added more ramps to some of the stores in the downtown area. The last time we were there I could go into the Hard Rock store to buy t-shirts for my sons. I made sure to let them know how much it was appreciated and hoped they'd garner more business by being accessible. The little building you now pass through to get from the cruise ship area to downtown also has fully accessible shopping areas.---Kathy

Thanks for posting. I am wondering since my scooter can be taken apart to small pieces if that could work. I am sad that disney does not provide a way that I can get there. I get nervous thinking about getting a taxi not getting there but getting back.

However I guess It would only take one person who did an excursion the same one disney organzied minus the transportation who missed the boat for that to change.

Thanks for posting at least I know I can do this tour :)
