Explain to me transfer of points

Am currently in need of 8 points to be transferred into my account for my sept trip. Does it have to be same use year if I can find someone? Suck as I am using 2013 use year can someone transfer me from 2014 or 2015?

They do not need to be same use year as your use year. However the transfer points need to be for the current use year not borrowed. Honestly for 8 points why not just buy from DVC, paying the $120 might be easier than finding someone to transfer such a small amount.

If all you need is 8 points I would choose to buy the One Time Use points directly through member services. You can buy up to 24 points at $15 a point per use year just as long as you are within 7 months of check-in.

No, you cannot transfer points from 2015 into your 2013 Use Year.

Transferred points will retain their original Use Year and Home Resort status. They may NOT be borrowed after transfer. If MS would allow points from another member's June, 2015 Use Year, they could not be use for an arrival date prior to June 1, 2015.

MS may allow you to have points from another member's 2014 Use Year transferred, since they could be used for a trip in September, 2014 (as long as they are not from the October or December, 2014 Use Year). I would certainly verify that with MS before having the points transferred though.

I agree that purchasing the 8 points from MS for this trip is the best way to do this as that few points are often difficult to have transferred since members are allowed only 1 transfer per Use Year.

So if you are booking right now at the 11 month mark you could book all but one night and then at the 7 month mark add the last night use one time use points combined with your other points.

It looks like they are already within 7 months as the trip is next month and their points are 2013 points about to expire by the end of November at the latest (could even be at the end of September). Any points remaining in a 2013 Use Year are either September, October or December points and are points already banked or too late to bank so they will expire 8/31, 9/30 or 11/30 respectively.

If that is the case, they have access to the OTU points right now - based on availability.
