I am thinking about waitlisting a 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk. With that being said..If I waitlist a 2 bedroom boardwalk view today and tomorrow a 2 bedroom standard becomes available, with they notify me of that availability or will they only notify me if a 2 bedroom BOARDWALK view becomes available?

Nex question...if I waitlist a Saturday to Saturday trip and Saturday to Tuesday becomes available, will they let me know or no?

Obviously you can tell I am a new member and trying to make my first reservation :lmao:

Thanks Everyone :)

Well, first I would say that you won't be "notified" in any way. If your waitlist come through, they will just fill it. Boardwalk view is a booking category, so it will only fill if that view becomes available. If you're willing to have some other booking category, you will have to waitlist that separately.

Same with the days - it will only be fulfilled if ALL your days are available.

If your exact waitlist becomes available and you are at the top of the list, it will be turned in to a confirmed reservation. Check-in/check-out dates and view all have to match.

i don't think they notify you at all any more.

if you waitlist a BW view 2BR and that becomes available, you will see it in your account (and you probably should get an email.)

if you waitlist a BW view 2BR and a standard view becomes available, it will go to someone else if you did not waitlist that.

they do not let you know unless the waitlist comes through. there are hundreds of thousands of members...it's too much for them to just keep us all posted on what is nearly available.

You can have two active waitlists at the same time, so you could waitlist for both the Boardwalk view and the Standard view. You will get whatever comes available first.

There are three room categories - Boardwalk, Pool/Garden, and Standard. To maximize your chances of staying at the Boardwalk I would waitlist for two of those three categories.

I love the Boardwalk and have a waitlist myself for October.

Unless your WL matches EXACTLY (dates, view even room type), you will not get it. While not an issue for BWV, if you have a dedicated listed and a L/O becomes available, you will not get it. IF you have 7 days WL and 4 days come available, they will go to someone else. Also the WL is inefficient, often the dates come online when they should have gone to the WL. I'd hang out and check often like several times a day and take any single days that match your needs then modify your WL accordingly. Just remember that when you change your WL you do move to the bottom of the list.

If you request a paper confirmation on your reservation, you will receive a confirmation in the mail when your waitlist is filled. I have done it. One other thing to bear in mind is you should make a reservation for another resort at the same time that you setup your waitlist, just to be sure you have something. When the waitlist comes through the other reservation will automatically be cancelled. But if the waitlist does not come through, you will at least have something to fall back on. This way you can leave the waitlist in effect right up to the week before you go. Just plan on not getting the waitlist and it becomes a very pleasant surprise if and when it comes through.

Another thing to be aware of is that if some but not all of your nights become available, they will likely go to someone further down the list. For example, if you are wait listed for 7 nights and 3 of your nights become available, that doesn't completely fulfill your request so MS keeps going down the list. If someone wants one, two or all three of those nights (and no more) they get them. Therefore, you are more likely to be successful when requesting just a couple of nights than a full week.

Also, you have two options for your wait list expiration: you can stay on the wait list until 30 days before check-in or until 7 days before check-in. The first option is there because if you have an existing reservation that you want them to cancel before booking the wait listed room, the points returned to your account are Holding points if the cancellation occurs in 30 days or less from check-in. If the wait listed room costs the same or more points, all of the Holding points will be used for the new reservation. If your wait listed room costs fewer points, you will be left with some Holding points in your account. Holding points can only be used to book a stay within 60 days of check-in and cannot be banked.

No one has mentioned this, but keep checking online for the nights you're looking for. Sometimes stuff becomes available before the wait list can match it.
