Explain tickets to a Rookie, PLEASE!

Okay this may sound really stupid to all of you veterans but we've never been to WDW before. We bought a 5-day Park Hopper ticket. Can we go to one park in the morning and then to another in the afternoon or will that use 2 days on the ticket. Sorry for the stupidity but your help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can go MK, Epcot, AK and MGM on the same day if you would like and it would only count as one day. That is why they call them park hoppers, you are allowed to 'park hop'. BTW, there are no stupid questions here.

There are no stupid questions... (well ok a few but yours isn't LOL)

You can hop back and forth all day long if you like and you will only use one day on your ticket.
You didn't say you have a park hopper plus, but just in case...
The only exception is those parks (water parks etc) that are the plus options. so if you visited Typhoon lagoon in the AM and Blizzard beach in the PM it would use 2 of your plus options.

Hopper means that you can hop from one park to another (all four if you like) all on ONE DAYS usage of the ticket.

Like we have gone from AK to hotel to MK in one day. Another day we did MK to hotel to MGM. One day used on ticket each time.

That is the great selling point of hoppers. The other is that a regular (not the "length of stay" included in hotel packages) hopper tickets never expire. We bought a 6 day plus 3 option ticket. We used the 6 days over 2 trips and the 3 options over 3 trips.

One thing I do is write on the hopper in perm marker the parks and date that it was used, just for my memory and for future reference in case I have a problem.

Thank you all for the answers and the support. Everyone on these boards is so knowledgeable about disney stuff I sometimes feel like I didn't pass a grade. Hopefully this will change after our first trip with many more to follow. Thanks again for all your help.
