Explain the Crocs Sensation to Me!

I bought a pair of the Crocs sandals (Nile, I think?) for our trip last May. I loved how they felt, and how light they were, but after one day at the parks I had the BIGGEST blister on the ball of my foot! And I don't EVER get blisters! That put an end to my Crocs fascination. I had to alternate between a different pair of sandals I had brought and my tennis shoes for the rest of the week...that blister HURT!

I have heard that the closed ones (Aspens) are only for inclement or cold weather hence why your feet may have sweat. I am not into trying the Nile for a WDW trip or anything with a ton of walking. If I get any it'll be the Beach and/or Aspens...possibly the Professional too.

I cannot believe kids actually want to wear these shoes. I think they are gawd awful ugly. I can see if you have really bad feet and they are somehow comfortable for you, but kids?!?! wearing them voluntarily?!?!

Crocs are this decades answer to layered scrunch socks and aqua blue wet & wild eye shadow. :scared:  :rotfl2:

I have a question for you croc experts out there. I have narrow heals, will the strap stay on my heal? and would it be better to get the beach or cayman style? :confused3

I can believe it!! Have you seen Uggs? Hideous shoes are ALL the rage right now! :rotfl:

Ok, so Crocs are ugly. But they really arn't that ugly, especially if you get a neutral color, like black, brown or kahki. And once summer rolls around, they are just like sandals. No one will notice.

SWKMOM:
I think you will be fine with the strap. The shoes really do stay on without it just fine too though. Just make sure that you try them before you buy them. As for the difference between the beach and the cayman, I couldn't tell you. To me they are exactly the same. Others say the Cayman don't fit right, others say the beaches are wider than the caymans.
I've tried on both the Beach and the Aspens (completely closed top).
The Beach Mediums fit PERFECTLY. The Aspens did NOT fit me at all. One size was way too big, and the next size down just didn't feel right.
Don't know if this helps or not but I hope so!

I just checked the ems.com...what is the difference between the mens and womens? Just the colors?

I like navy - nice and boring - but it only comes in mens... :confused3

I have wide feet in front & narrow in the heel - think duck foot. They're really too wide for my preference. Looking to find Holey Soles in black.

I don't care for my Nile model (sandal) but, wore out the sole on my Beach model - took about a year though.

Yep, they're ugly but, a god-send for those of us who have "bad feet" and despaired of ever being pain free after a long day.

That's what I have, the duck feet! :lmao: So, you were able to wear the beach model even with the narrow heal?

I've seen more than enough hanging flesh :crazy2: in the summer to be worried about if someone is wearing ugly shoes or not. If you feel comfortable keep on wearing them. :confused3

Yes, but if I have to run (trust me - not too often) my foot will flop around in them.

I ordered a pair from a store on eBay of the new version of Holey Soles yesterday, they're supposed to be narrower. I selected a closed-in style (no holes) that they tout has an elevated heel cup - to get around the provision that some employers have requiring backs on shoes?? Hope they're not too hot/make my feet sweat. I was getting tired of my socks getting wet in inclement weather.

My dark secret is out - I do wear the no-show socks w/my Crocs! Figure they really can't look any dorkier than they already do...sort of like an anti-fashion statement...so geeky they're cool.;)

I bought my first pair of Crocs last May when I read about them on the DIS. I couldn't believe how comfortable I was walking around the parks all day and night. And believe me...we walk A LOT! I had always gotten blisters, sore feet, etc no matter what I had worn before. Sneakers or sandals, it didn't matter. I was dreaming about getting off of my feet by 6pm with hours of activities still to go. Not so with the Crocs. I can walk all day. Those of us that love them would probably never go to the parks without them again. I for one wear mine instead of my slippers now. Seriously. They are more comfortable to me than going barefoot or wearing slippers. I wore my first pair so much that I wore out the soles. (I do tend to drag my feet lol). Watch out if this happens because the do become slippery on wet surfaces. But then again, I wore them constantly from May to the winter. I think I'll just use those at the beach now instead of water shoes. I too had a problem with the half sizes. First pair I got were mediums, slightly too big but the strap did keep them on well. Second pair I got were smalls. A little tight at first but stretched out just right within a week or so. Give Crocs a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised.
And to the poster who linked to the 50% off Crocs. I thank you but my husband does not. Now I have an excuse to buy even more colors lol. - Nancy_

I love Crocs! They are kinda ugly, but they are soooooo comfortable!!! My mom is an R.N., and she has been wearing them for years, and I used to make fun of her, haha. Now that I am about to be in nursing school, they will be the only thing I were! I cannot stress enough how cushy and comfy these things are! :sunny:

Crocs are fugly! And something about plastic shoes always makes me think of the jelly shoes from the 80s.

Give me my Danskos or Keens any day.

Is there an official crocs website that shows all the different kinds? Or a store where I could try them on? I've got short fat feet and my heel bone sticks out too far and rubs on most shoes that have the back straps. These things are pretty ugly but if they are that comfortable I'll go for it.

Sorry, they are no sensation to me. They are a butt-ugly fad.
