Can someone help explain the “dropping dates off a current stay” issue please? Or let me know if you’ve had any luck doing it if the room is otherwise sold out? I’m not talking only a one or two night stay. I’m trying to make a 7 night stay a 5 night stay and it won’t let me! 😡 I know this has been an issue in the past but it’s always seemed to resolve itself and I’m just trying to make sure I plan accordingly. I tried “modify” tonight but that didnt help. Thought I would call tomorrow. Does anyone have the magic words or know who I need to ask to talk to to help make this happen?! Thanks!

Try to make a new reservation for a 5 night stay. Sounds like your original resort doesn't work. Try a similar resort BC instead of YC as an example.

Call. Ask the CSR to check and ask for an exception. I think they need to check with guest relations. If there is an issue getting permission it might help being able to say you'd rather not have to at the BC instead of the YC.

Are you paying rack rate? Dropping dates and keeping a discount may not be possible

So this is how I understand it - when modifying it on line, the system is actually trying to replace your current nights with a new set, and in order to do that the system needs to see the "new" set of nights available and when they are not, the modification isn't possible. The system isn't smart enough to realize that you are holding those nights. I always end up calling in to do it when that happens and it's never a problem for them to make the change.

Trying to shorten your reservation could be an issue where the rate you currently had was only good for that length of stay. Disney doesn't show rates by day like you see at many other travel destinations. People could try to 'game' the reservation system by first booking a longer stay, then shortening it to get the same rate. I think it is best to call Disney to see if they are able to shorten your length of stay and still get the same rate. Depending on your particular dates of travel, all of the days might/might not have the same rate.

WDW absolutely shows rates by day. If OP is able to shorten her dates, her new full-stay rate will reflect the nightly rate for her room which will fluctuate depending on time of year and day of the week. Every room-only reservation confirmation will show the rate per night.

Was true at least 30 years ago. Changed maybe 20 years ago. The very old system only allowed one daily rate per stay. If you checked in last day of a value period you paid that rate your entire stay
