I see on the swaps board that many are using bazzill paper exclusively. Now I haven't kept up on the scrapbook trends this past year or so and I have never heard of this paper until recently. I get the idea it is a good quality card stock but is there anything else special about it? No one around me even sells it so that I can look at it.

My scapbook store sells Prima which I really like and have been using a lot. I have to be careful how much cardstock I use on a page because I have the embelishing curse and go back to pages and keep adding items. If I used all card stock I wouldn't even be able to lift my albums!

Its textured cardstock, comes in about six zillion colours (maybe exaggerating a bit) and threatens to bankrupt UK scrappers cos its so fantastic but you can't get it for less than 32p (64 cents) plus postage for 12x12 sheets. You can also get flowers, brads and eyelets which match the paper shades. Its lovely to work with and cuts out beautifully without tearing (Xyron PCS shreds thin paper!)

Anyone know where you can find this in Oklahoma City? I can't seem it find this type of paper any where.

If you don't have an LSS you may run into problems. I can't find it at J's, Mike's or Ragshop (or AC Moore that I discovered in somewhat local). I ordered online, but I did find some at an LSS in MA when I visited earlier this month. Memo to self, bring LOTS of $$$ for Bazzill next time you go visit Papa :D

ACM does carry it, but usually you cannot find an employee who knows what it is. They sell it in packages instead of individual sheets the way your LSS might. It's called FourZ. You can get an idea of it here: http://www.bazzillbasics.com/iwwida.pvx?;products_no_tree?comp=BBP?cat=PACKS_FOUR But it's really difficult to get a good "feel" for it from those ridiculously small pix. :( Also, my ACM doesn't carry much of it...maybe 3 or 4 colors. I don't know if other stores are better or not.

I love the texture - there are different types: some like cloth/weave and some like "grass". (Well that's the term they use at least. :confused3 ) But the biggest reason I love it is the color. You can get 4 very similar purples (for example) where each shade is just a bit darker than the previous. It makes for outstanding double/triple matting! :teeth: Then of course you can get multiple groups of purples...some more blue, some more red, etc.

hummm... might have to go by AC Moore again at some point. It's really east for me, so about 30 minutes or so, depending on traffic, but I really liked the store (and bought a bunch of stuff today)

Some Hobby Lobbies sell it, depends on your state.
I get mine from a monthly cardstock club and a few LSS. I love all the colors and how nice it is. I'm glad that they now have smoothies so I can use them for autograph pages.

I used to just buy what was cheap and thought it was fine, but then I started working at my LSS and they gave me 3 sheets and said do a layout with this and then you'll see. I now only by Bazzill and a few sheet of Archiver's brand if bazzill doesn't have the perfect color.

The only downside I've ever seen about bazzill is that it's made with recycled plastic. so it goes threw your blades quicker then just regular cardstock.

Sadly, we have no Hobby Lobby around here. :(

One other downside to Bazzill is that it does fade. :confused3 For what it costs, it should last forever!! ;)

I just got a bunch yesterday & I usually pull from the middle of a stack because I've heard it fades. At one point I asked DSis to hand me a sheet from another stack (different shades of green than what I was looking at) and as soon as she pulled it off we could see how faded that sheet was! Mine isn't stored near light before I use it & once it's in the book it's pretty well protected too...it's just the storage & at the store that I take into consideration.

I never heard about the recycled plastic thing, though, Ann! Thanks for passing that along! I definitely won't be using my hand punches then. Replacing a blade isn't too bad, but to buy a whole new punch...nope. I'll use something else. ;)

do you know about using aluminum foil to sharpen your punches. Whenever I punch a bunch with bazzill I take a 12x12 sheet of foil and punch a bunch with that. then my punch is as good as new,(you probally don't need a 12x12 area of foil, just enough for 10 punches or so)

Yes I do sharpen my punches with foil, thanks. I'm not sure it always works though - especially on some of the finer ones (the paper left is finer/more narrow) like the lacy ones.

When I need a smooth piece, I just flip the regular side over. DCWV is usually textured on both sides and I have found the textured bazzill is only on one side and it is dyed throughout vs white core. So there is a difference in tearing, etc.

There are also so many different textures to bazzill and they have different lines within the textured line itself. I love the doodlebug colors - they remind me of Disney colors.

Thanks'for the foil tip! I'll pass that on:goodvibes

I guess I'll have to order some to see what the fuss is all about. LOL

My LSS has boxes of Bazzill on sale for $.25 each. I didn't have much time - I ran in at lunch just to get one thing (I only came out with 3), but I did notice a lot of it wasn't in the best condition so I doubt I'll buy any of it.

I bought myself a birthday present - the mickey head swirl punch!
