Expiring water question

I just got a letter from Universal regarding my premier pass where we get 8 bottles of water included per ticket (coupons provided in the Premier Pass sleeve).

I knew that we would have one year to get our waters, and our passes are good until mid-April. We are returning to Orlando/Universal in early April, so I thought we were ok.

According to the letter, our current coupons for water expire on Dec. 31, 2007 (even though our Premier Pass doesn't expire until April 15, 2008), so we are supposed to bring this letter, our Premier Passes and our unused water coupons to guest services to get them exchanged for new coupons. However, it says we can only do this until February 29! We won't be at Universal again until April.

Does anyone know if we can do this by mail or how we could still get our water in April? I know it sounds silly, but they charge $2.75 plus tax for the water and we have at least 10-15 bottles left to claim, so I hate to lose them. We were told we had one year to get our water, and weren't told we'd have to visit during Jan-Feb to revert existing coupons to new coupons to do so.

sounds like a question for phamton.....

Funny this thread should come up. I bought my premier passes on Dec 30, and started using them that day. We had trouble getting anyone to redeem the water pass, and at 8 PM we had a ride attendant tell us that our passes could not be used as express passes. (For the record, we rode about 6 other things and she was the only one that seemed confused).

We decided to stop by customer service on the way out to confirm express after 4 pm and to ask about the water coupons (hey, for three of us that's an entire case of water we don't have to lug around the park this year). They said that the park would honor them for '07 also, just to go ahead and use them, but I'm not looking forward to trying them. We had a hard time getting them honored when they weren't expired, much less after they are.

That said, Universal RULES :cool2: , the pass perks are great (the discount and FOTL alone are worth it, add in Horror Nights and we couldn't pass it up) and even my 'no ride' rider is looking forward to getting back.

:yay:

We've also had some challenges using the water coupons. When we got our Premier Passes, guest services told us we could use them anywhere that water was sold. The first time I wanted a water, I walked up to one of the snack stands that displayed the water. She told me the coupons couldn't be redeemed at any of the quick stands, only at restaurants.

So that meant always standing in a queue for counter service somewhere just to grab a water. Last week, I tried to redeem one at Mel's diner and the TM had no idea how to do it, so had to go in the back and get help.

I've always managed to get the water eventually, but it wasn't without some waiting and explaining.

We went to the Studios yesterday afternoon, and when I went to a vendor to get a water I told him my situation up front. He told me I had to go to a restaurant, but I told him customer service assured me I could get it anywhere. I was nice but firm about it so he ended up giving me one, but I don't like the feeling of begging for something that is supposed to be a perk.

That said, I can't rave enough about the discounts on food and merchandise. I am loving Universal and even my hubby who is NOT a park addict like me had a great time - he got the biggest kick out of the Horror Make-up Show!!

Anyway, here's to FREE water! :drinking:
