Expiring points question

Hello, we have 120 points that WILL expire this year. Does travel need to occur during this year or do we simply need to have something booked this year? We have friends that are considering renting our points but not looking to stay until March 2017. Trying to find out sooner than later for them since member services is closed at this time
We receive our allotment of points in February.

All nights of the stay have to be taken during the UY they are expiring, so if they are expiring sometime this year then there's no way to use them for a stay next year. When you book doesn't affect it.

UY has nothing to do with when you call to book. UY relates to the dates of your stay. So if your UY is February - you would have to complete your stay by January 31, 2017.
