Expiring point question...

We have been DVC members since 2001, purchased direct through DVC and added on 6 months later. We are in the ROFR stage of our first resale add-on.

My question relates to banked 2012 points on the resale. Does anyone know if DVC will extend the expiration date by one day?

Thank you :-)

Are you asking if points that are banked, say a June use year, from 2012 could be used for the night of June 1, 2014, rather than have the last possible night for usage not later than May 31, 2014? I doubt it is actually legally possible to do so given the point structure of DVC.

If they're bankable just have the current owners bank them. I doubt they'll allow late banking in this situation.

The points were already banked the the OP wanted to see if they could be extended one more day after the expiration date.

OK, thanks but now I may be more confused. I don't see how 1 day helps much since each day stands alone from a points usage standpoint. Now for some of the other timeshares where points are actually counted and taken on day 1 of the reservation it could be more beneficial. With one of my other points systems I could pay as much as 2 weeks going forward starting on the last day of the UY but that won't work with DVC.

I believe the OP wants to take a trip in which the last day of the trip is the day following the expiration of the banked points.

Thanks, that's what I'd assumed from Deb's post but this would only cover one day of a trip the way DVC counts the points, not an entire trip.

Yes, the 2012 points expire July 31st, we've asked that what's left of the 2013 points also be banked, and we'll have full 2014 points on 8/1. We already have rooms booked starting 8/3 under our present DVC contract. We figured with all the new points we could try to extend our stay on the front end using the new contract. The majority of the banked points are from 2012. I was hoping to get some of those points extended to 8/1 so we can make full use of them. Of course the more expensive of the nights point-wise is the 1st.
