Expiring FPs and Tiered Parks

Long ago in a DHS far, far away in the infancy of doing 4th FPs on cellphones, we had an issue with FPs that were past their window not getting cleared out of the system so we couldn’t make Tier 1 FPs for everyone. There was some thought that the order of the FPs might matter. My understanding is that that doesn’t happen anymore. Is that true? Has everyone who has let an FP expire in a Tiered Park been able to book another Tier 1?

Also, DD9 isn’t going to ride RNR. There is not much of anything else to get her in DHS in its place (she doesn’t like ToT either). Is DD7 Dis-lawfully allowed to wear DD9s MB and use her FP if big sis actually came into the park and burned a ticket for the day. She’s not going to get wrestled to the pavement on Main Street, have her MB and Mickey balloon confiscated, and be banned from MDE for life, right? (I kid, I know those things won’t happen - well, other than the lifetime MDE ban, maybe).

Yes

I don't recall having any problems with tiered, expired and unused FP causing a problem booking additional FP. We don't often left FP expire but we have at times when we've missed our first one. I've never had a problem booking a 4th. So I'm going to say that whatever issue you encountered before is fixed.

There was a local fellow behind me in line at FOP a few weeks ago, who was using 2 magicbands. Far as I could tell, he and his family member were local AP passholders. He'd been idly checking FoP availability that morning and FPs for his party of two popped up. He snagged them, and since his family member couldn't ride, they gave him their magicband and he ran right over to ride twice, back to back. He was SO happy!

I don't know if he had to tap at the entrance twice when entering the park, but regardless, I don't think there's any harm in sharing/swapping magicbands.

Since the other family member was IN the park with him then the other family member would have tapped and entered the park with their own band. No one would need to tap twice (nor could they anyway, with finger ID and all)

I got the impression he was there alone. That they couldn't ride because they had work or something. Sorry, I phrased that badly!

How good is finger id? Maybe they dropped him off, checked in at the tapstyle, and then left their band with him?

He was a little odd in affect, but he was so happy that I couldn't help being happy for him.

(Another thought - is the fastpass system even connected to park entry? Maybe you don't need to have officially entered the park to use your Fastpass? I really don't know!)

To the best of my knowledge the fingerprint match is pretty good. Not infallible I suppose but good.

While yes, a FP made with a ticket not used to enter the park will work the person who uses it will find their MDE account locked from making additional FP. It violates the rules. So that guy would do it once.

Maybe you need to select the FP that was missed within MDE and reschedule it, rather than just trying to book a 4th FP?

Yes, that would most likely work but that is what I’m hoping to avoid. This is specifically for DHS and there is very little there worth FPing. Most of the family will want a second Star Tours FP and DD7 will probably want RNR, both of which won’t be able to be scheduled if one or more FPs don’t get tapped off or expire properly. We have one person’s FP that will need to expire or be tapped off because there isn’t a good way to use it. DH is the one taking DD7 on the thrill rides in the morning and I’m afraid he will forget to tap it off.

I always thought so too. Until our last trip.

My daughter was having trouble with her finger, so they reset it and had my husband use his finger (she's 4). One morning, we ended up splitting up so that he could take my son to sign up for Jedi and we could take our time and when I got to the tapstyle I was expecting an issue since he wasn't there. I ended up using my thumb instead of my husband's finger and it worked first try. All I could think was how the system seems to give us so much trouble and then my tiny petite hands were able to impersonate my huge husband's. Go figure.

We have had multiple issues with FPs not falling off our account after they were used and not being able to get additional FP after using our first 3. That issue seems to have been corrected. However what we discovered in January is if we allow a FP to simply expire, it never falls off our account. So we have to actually tap into the ride as if we were going to ride and then it falls off which allows us to schedule additional FPs.

That is what happened to us before. I will have to make sure that DH is reminded and knows how to check them in MDE.

If you have an expired and unused FP you have another option. Just modify that FP. You don't have to tap in. I know for us, we aren't in the park to tap in when we let one expire. We sometimes end up missing our first FP because my DH has time management issues in the morning.

Would that be possible if the original FP was a tier two and the OP is wanting to book additional tier 1 FP? I thought it would only allow you to modify it to another tier two until you fulfilled your obligation of one tier one and two tier two. Perhaps I misunderstood, as I typically use mine, or just cancel them outright.

Is there any reason in particular for DD9 to have a tier 1 FP (aside from giving her band to her sister for a bonus ride)? Star Tours is Tier 2 so you should be able to get extra FPs for that ride without having a tier 1 in the first 3. (At least that's what the FAQ makes it seem like)

If it was late in the day, its also possible they could have come with him and left early. As a PP mentioned, if the other person never entered the park, he will get banned from making FPs.

We had that occur in December at HS. What we did was to just add/modify the FP to a FP that was immediately available for something we weren't interested in riding and tapped that FP.

Probably not. I've never missed a Tier 1 FP. I've only had to mess around with a Tier 2 FP, or non-tiered FP at MK

No, you aren't forced to use a Tier 1. You can make 3 Tier 2 rides instead

It would probably be less confusing if I explained what I’m actually doing.

FP for RNR for DH and DD7
FP for ToT for DD9, DS5 and me
FP for everyone at Star Tours
FP for everyone at Muppets (because there is nothing to FP at this park and we do plan to go see it).

Then we are hoping to get 4th FPs for DD7 and me at RNR and Star Tours for everyone. Since RNR is Tier 1 and Star Tours is a repeat, all the other FPs have to get used.

But what is going to happen is that DH is going to take DS7 on both RNR and ToT because the other kids are saying they don’t want to ride either of them. That means the 3rd ToT needs to get tapped off or expire.

For the record, yes I know I’m making this overly complicated but the results will make DD7 happy. And I also don’t normally schedule FPs that we don’t plan to use, but DHS is a little ridiculous right now with lack of useful FPs. I do normally cancel ones we aren’t going to use, other than a couple of rare times where we just weren’t able to make it.

I don't understand why you are not getting FP for RnR for one of the group that isn't riding and yourself and let DD7 ride twice then
