Expired Yogurt. How old is too old?

A friend of mine eats yogurt well after the expiration date and he is fine. But he eats all sorts of things and seems to be immune to any bad flavors.

I know that when some of my Chobani yogurts get very close to the expiration date they get a funky, strong, pungent taste to them. Now, they are certainly not bad/spoiled but I don't like the taste at all so I would not eat them for that reason.

If I take the lid off and see mold or it smells funny then it is too old too eat. Otherwise its good. I don't look at the expiration dates before I open it but I doubt anything gets more than a week or so past the date.

I doubt I'd eat something a month over but you can tell if things like yoghurt are bad when you open them. I keep and eat lots of things over their date IF I know they've been stable in my refridgerator the whole time. I would not intentionally buy expiring food, especially dairy, if I had no idea about how it had been stored. Lots of things are fine past their dates. You have to check it out prior to eating it.

Yesterday, I ate some greek yogurt 10 days past the expiration date. Tasted fine and I suffered no ill effects.

I always thought that the sell by date was more for the stores than the consumers.

I'll eat yogurt up to a week beyond the sell-by date, but that is about all. If I'm feeding it to my DS, probably only a day or two beyond the sell by date just to be safe. Definitely not a month old, and even thinking about eating yogurt that is 6 months old makes my stomach hurt!
