Hello: We have the trip tic but it is not too clear at the end in florida, what cutoff or exit do we take to go to the wdw world resort area from i 75. We are staying at port orleans french quarter. Thanks,

Deb.

Actually, you don't get to Disney from the I75. You take the Florida turnpike from the I75, over to I4 then I4 west (signs point towards Tampa) then get off at the second (I think) Disney exit. But I can certainly post a map for you if you need it.

Some advice from a local. Take I-75 to the FL Turnpike. Get off exit 288 and proceed south on Route 27. This will take you on a scenic route through Clermont. Not to worry, it's a 4 lane divided highway with for the most part a 65 mph/105 kph speed limit. There's very little traffic, and although there are some lights, there aren't many. You'll pass a couple Publix grocery stores, stop for bottled water and snacks. They have good selection and prices, and aren't crowded with tourists.

You'll take Route 27 South for about 60 kilometers, the exit ramp for Route 192 is clearly marked with not only the route name, but it also says "Disney World". be cautious on the ramp, it's a harder turn than it would appear.

Follow 192 east for about 10 kilometers, a bit after mile marker 5 (Big purple "5" sign on lightpole) you'll be making a left turn onto Sherbeth. Follow Sherbeth to the traffic light and make a laft if you are headed to AKL, right to go anywhere else on property.

Timewise it will save you during rush hour, it's about the same otherwise, but it will save a couple dollars in tolls and keep you off of I-4, which is terrible any time of the day or night.

Okay thanks everyone. I did find an old florida map in my basement. Seems CAA forgot to put it in my travel kit.

Ducklite we will be travelling from hamilton to london and then over the border at windsor. I believe you were travelling along part of that route last week, I am hoping for no snow. Next trip I had better get my act together take a pill and fly like everyone else. Boy it is cold here today.

Thanks,

Deb.

::yes:: ::yes:: Yes, I traveled a good part of that route--crossed the border from Buffalo at Grand Island, up to Hamilton, to London, then on to Sarnia. The 401 was impassable, and there was a tragic accident. Be careful out there. At least in Canada we just stopped at Timmy's every time we got hung up in traffic or weather. Great place to wait it out--although my waistline doesn't agree.

OMG! And those Chocolate Snowflake donuts WHOA!! Will you bring me some? Plleeeeassssseeeeee??????

Hi Anne:

I am glad you enjoyed them. Its amazing how many people around here rely on tims. In fact it is a must do after a shopping spree or outing.

Does Dave Hunter still put out his Along I-75 Book? S

Not only does Dave Hunter still do the I-75 book (published every two years -- last published in Oct. '04), but he also does "Along Florida Highways" (or something to that effect.)

cottontail - not to confuse matters, but have you ever considered the "other" route - you know, the 90/79/77 etc.? It is significantly shorter coming from Hamilton. Going to Windsor, you have to swing "past" Orlando to the west, and then come back east from 75. Going through Buffalo is almost straight down.

I also prefer this route because it is more interesting and scenic. There are those that advise against it during the winter because of the hills in West Virginia, but my feeling is bad weather can hit anywhere. Besides, it seems to me the highways along this stretch are better maintained, certainly more so than some of the scarier parts of 75. You will also not have to deal with the potential traffic bottlenecks around the Cinncinnati/Kentucky border, and you will bypass (shudder) Atlanta altogether ...

Does US-27 have a lot of construction? I am trying to decide whether to get off I-75 at US 27 or keep going to I-4. I really would like the quickest route. We are coming from Louisiana with a 8yr. old, 5yr. old and an infant. Getting stuck in traffic would be a nightmare.

From i-75 you take the florida turnpike from there we get off at the exit for # 27 I believe it is just before you hit the first toll booth on the turnpike it takes you down by Kissimee and you enter on the road near DTD going to OKW and POR/FQ. We love this way of getting there you see lots of orange groves mind you there seems to be more and more houses going up every year and the Orange tower lookout it is a great way to drive in.
