experiences with "buying reservations"

Hello All,

Wow- I can't believe what a great resource all of these DIS boards are!

Last year our family of 4 (6 yr and 8yr old) travelled to Disney (from Ontario) for the first time- what a great experience it was, although it was not nearly long enough. We stayed at ASM and were only at the park for three days- too much to see and do.

This year we are coming again, at the end of January/buy bginning of February (so far the dates are flexible), and want to spend four or 5 days at WDW.

I have heard that "buying a reservation" (this might not be the correct terminology), is a great option, and I am wondering if anybody can share any experiences about this- good/ bad experiences?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated (and I apologize if there have been lengthy discussions about this- but I could not easily find them)!

go to the rent/trade forum under DCV here in disboards. You can look for people selling reservations for a particular resort and set dates, or selling points which you can use at different resorts at disney. You can also post a thread asking for someone to sell you points.
But FIRST You need to figure out what you want. Which resort, how many rooms, etc. Then use the calculator on the site to help you figure out how many points you need. I just bought points yesterday for my stay in May. It was fairly easy. Good Luck

"Buying a Reservation" is actually a great term. Unfortunately, few people use it. Instead they talk about "Renting Points".

If you look for information on renting points you should what you need. After you've poked around - come back and ask if you've got specific questions.

I just joined the board last month and rented points from 2 different people. One ressie in Dec 06 and another in Feb 07. I can't begin to tell you how nice and helpful they both were. I also got posts from a few people that I didn't rent from and they were also very nice!!!! I will use this every time we go to WDW and don't take our 5th wheel to the campgrounds!!

We rented in January '06 and loved it! Watch out though! What started out as a way to save us money turned into a major expenditure as we decided to buy into DVC!!!

You might also respond to one of the "Points for Rent" threads where a member is offerig to make a reservation for anyone.
