A couple of things to add:
Benadryl or any other antihistamine could be fatal to a very young baby. And for older babies/toddlers it can make them REALLY hyper, my kid is one of them. So please be very cautious taking that advice.
Before you leave print out both the pages from your airline's website about traveling with infants and children AND the FAA/TSA guidelines as to what you are allowed to take and have them handy. Should you encounter an ill-informed airline or TSA employee who tries to tell you something like you can't let the baby be properly buckled into his/her seat (when you've bought them a seat just for this purpose) or that you can't take formula/breastmilk past security you'll be prepared!
Have a great flight!
