we always fly either Air Canada or West Jet for the last 8 years but now I am looking at flying United as it seems quite a bit cheaper. The thing is though that the Air Canada flights would be direct and the United ones would not. We are flying in the day before and leaving for a Disney Cruise the next day so part of me is really worried about flying United after all the horror stories I have heard. Anyone have any thoughts? Is it worth it to take the chance and safe $250 per person

Every airline has horror stories and I've met many people who refuse to fly with Air Canada because of it, or refuse to fly with Westjet because they were treated poorly, or refuse to fly with United because of something or other. I've flown with United to Orlando frequently over the past 10 years or so and they haven't done me wrong enough to pass up a good deal. And I do know they are being agressive with their fares this fall, I've found many examples of sub-$400 return to Orlando from Halifax in August, September and November.

So I say go for it and put your $250 per person in your pocket. Good luck!

Which airport do you have to stop at? We have gone through Newark twice, the first time we were late leaving there and the second time we were late leaving Halifax due to fog in Newark. We missed our connectiong flight by 1/2 hour. Going through Phiadelphia there were no issues. If you have a day to spare I think you would be fine.

We‘ve flown Delta/United out & in to Halifax thru Newark as well as direct with Sunwing to Orlando. All were OK. We prefer direct because we go during March Break and fewer connections equals fewer chances of delay. I would take the United flight if the savings were significant.
