Experienced Disney World Thanksgiving advice needed

I'm just seeing this post now, do you happen to know if tickets for the games are on sale yet? We are considering taking our 2 DS's to this on Thanksgiving day rather than going to a park but I don't know much about it. Last time I checked the website said tix will go on sale late summer/ early Sept. :thanks:
I think they are on sale via the participating school's ticket offices but from our past experience we bought our tickets when we walked up with no problems. Its general admission for all seats and it was never close to being completely full. If you get there early enough you should be fine. I think that full tournament passes are 125.00 per person and single session are 30.00 per person. If I remember right.

Excellent, thanks! We would just go on Thanksgiving day so maybe walking up and buying on the spot would work :)

You might want to take a look at easywdw.com recommendations and then make your decision. Josh gets rave reviews for his crowd calendar and insights on this board. http://www.easywdw.com/category/calendar/11-november-2015-crowd-calendar/

The MK is always busy on holidays and I know for my extended family's Thanksgiving week trip, they decided to do SeaWorld on Thanksgiving day instead of the MK due to this recommendation.

I will state that if you be ther after Black Friday to almost avoid Epcot on Black Friday as that is the first day for holidays around the world. One time it is alsmot impossible to walk around the world showcase. I will holidays around the world should not be missed!

Second this!! We are in The WC the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it was shoulder to shoulder. We love the Holidays around the World but Wow! Friday and Saturday are busy!

Ya the problem is most people leave Sunday, so the only days to experience are the last two. The 2 times we have gone at thanksgiving we have left on Monday and Tuesday. That's the only reason I prefer Christmas over thanksgiving is due to the ability to see the holidays around the world for the whole trip.

Yes, I agree. We arrived on Thanksgiving Day, and saw the transformation, but it is really not the same as christmastime. I love that time of year in WDW!

Glad for this thread! We're thinking of going next year for Thanksgiving and I am very curious about the most important thing: Where to EAT! :D

We are again eating our Thanksgiving meal at 50's Prime Time Cafe. They offer a good "home cooked" meal for the holiday.

We will be going this year and made a Thanksgiving ADR for Boma because I have heard they have a mix of Thanksgiving food and the regular offerings they have so we decided to try it since we love dinner there not to mention breakfast.

I am a Disneyland regular, but go to Disneyworld (or a Disney cruise) every year for Thanksgiving. Last year, we did the Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving day. We got there before rope drop and hit quite a few attractions before there were waits. We were able to do Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Splash, Small World and a couple more things before there was really any wait over 20 minutes. We then started doing things like People Mover and less popular rides as the crowds went to the popular attractions. By noon the park was packed and that is when our fast passes kicked in! We did our fast passes and then a few less popular things like Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents...etc. By then, it was around 4pm and we decided to leave. We had dinner reservations at our resort and wanted to shower before.

Basically, a crowded day at the Magic Kingdom doesn't compare to the X-mas crowds at Disneyland! I have never felt that kind of shoulder to shoulder feeling, including New Year's eve at Epoct!

This year is our 2nd Thanksgiving week trip. Everything was crowded that day last year so we didn't go to a park. We had dinner at Trails End and Fort Wilderness was crazy. So this year we are having brunch at Captain's Grille then heading for home.

We had great luck following easywdw crowd calendar. The weather was crazy last year, but the late EMH at MK Wed b4 thanksgiving was awesome. After Wishes, it cleared out and lots of rides were walk on. But it was pretty cold. The DHS late EMH was fantastic too.

I highly recommend hoppers that week.

Maybe we'll see you. We'll be the family in the Christmas or Disney clothes. Here we are last year on Tday at the Fort.
