Experience with Port Upgrades in NYC

We're booking a Bermuda October 2020 cruise out of NYC, currently a verandah room. I can't justify the price to upgrade to concierge right now as it's only a 5 day cruise, there are no cabanas, special excursions or character breakfasts to vie over, and I don't care if we do a Palo brunch or Frozen M&G again. But my DH really loved the lounge on our last trip and was in there every day, getting some reading and work done with his fancy coffee. I told him he could just go to Cove Cafe but he was like "nope, not the same". Looking to hear from anyone who has, as a Silver-level or below cruiser, ever scored a (paid) upgrade at port in NYC to concierge. If so how much more did you pay, and how early did you arrive to port?

We did our NYC Canada Coast cruise (first as Gold) and were offered 3 different Concierge upgrades from our CAT 4A booking. The cheapest (the concierge version of the CAT 4A) was $1500 an the most expensive was $4000 for our family of 5.

Had you booked your original room with a placeholder discount, and did you lose that discount for upgrading at port? That's another reason I want to keep the Cat 4A, along with the fact that the deposit is refundable if plans change. It's so far out.

That was actually a military discount cruise for us, so that discount didn't carry forward for us.
