We will have a rental car to drive from MCO to the port. Anyone out there know how the drop off is. One post I read suggested dropping off family and then return the car. Do they have someone take the luggage at the drop off point? How early is there somone there to take your bags? Do you need to tip them?

Thanks!

You have to go through a check point where some very nice people make sure that you are on the ship's manifest. Once they check your ID they will point you in the direction of the drop off point where you give your luggage to the porters. The bags may not get to your room for a few hours so please keep any items that you will have an immediate need for. The porters are people that work very hard so I would recommend tipping them.

People start arriving around 10:00; I believe the terminal opens around 10:30. It is recommended to drop off the family and have one person return the car because sometimes one person can get back easier than a whole family. If there is one seat left on the shuttle bus/van that person may get to go ahead of quite a few folks in line.

We have done what was mentioned above many times and the system works well....just make sure whomever is dropping off the car has their photo I.D. to get into the terminal on their return to meet up with the rest of the group.

We did this in Feb. and dh was back before I made it through the check in line with the kids. Dh couldn't believer how painless the process was.

Thanks for the confirmation! I'll have DH drop us off with bags and then return the car. Anyone know how early we can get dropped off?

The port area opens to incoming traffic (which includes luggage drop off) at 10:00. THe terminal opens at 10:30.

Please note that these times are ideal. They depend on the disembarkation from the previous cruise going smoothly. If the previous cruise ran late, the port opening/terminal opening can also run late. They're not going to let new people in till the old people are gone.
