Experience with Mirena?

When my oldest was 8, she saw a commercial for Mirena and told me I should get it because you don't have a baby for 5 years. :rotfl2: I had an 8 year old giving me birth control advice. :rotfl2: I would be interested in using it, too, except DH is now ready for his permanent procedure.

I've had Mirena for almost two years now and love it. However, some times, I have unpredictable light spotting.

I only had to pay the co-pay and the follow up appointment no charge (no out of pocket $$ from me).

Good luck deciding what to do ladies. Worse case scenario, you can get it removed.

I have had it for a year and a half and I love it. I had some spotting for about 2-3 weeks, which got progressively lighter until it stopped. I haven't had a period since. LOVE IT!!!

They warn you that there will be some minor cramping when they insert it. Maybe I'm a big baby, but I though it was a step above minor. When I sat up they made me lay back down because all the blood drained out of my face and I felt like I was going to pass out. I could have gone back to work but I wasn't 100% so I went home and went to sleep. When I woke up I felt much better.

I too read about all the possible side effects, and all the things that could go wrong. It took me a few months to decide, but I have never looked back since!
