Experience with Amtrak from San Diego to Anaheim

Can anyone chime in on using this transportation option? Any discounts? Anything to know about cabs to and from?

There are shuttles to Disneyland from the train station. Also, if you are riding on a weekend day, instead of Amtrak, you could probably take the Coaster to Oceanside and catch the Metrolink to Anaheim. The Coaster is $5-ish and the MetroLink is $10 on Saturdays and Sundays. You end up in the same place for less $$.

I did it a few years back. Don't remember the cab fare from the place in downtown SD to the downtown train station, but I negotiated a flat rate with the taxi driver from the Anaheim station (at Angels stadium's parking lot) to DLH. Was something like $10 (meter showed $12) at the time.

I got to the train station early and was able to get on an earlier train than I had booked, which was nice. Shared the train with businesspeople and private High School aged students in their uniforms. Was a great way to get up to Anaheim.

I don't know anything about cabs. I am a frequent rider on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Buy your fares ahead of time (as soon as your can). Fares go up as they go over time. Looking ahead to next Friday the 11th. The fare is $28 for Coach class one way.

Amtrak is a very comfortable form of travel. You get more legroom than a bus or plane. You can bring your own snacks or buy them from a cafe car. From What I've heard, you also get beautiful views of the pacific sitting on the right side of the train.

Super easy and a nice ride, loverly views at times. Taxis waiting at Anaheim and about $10 to hotel area.
