We're going next year in early Dec. (7th-12th). We've got enough points to book at 11 months so we're good. Our friends, however, will be short (even with borrowing) so that they'll have to book the last night at 7 months. Anyone have any experience with booking this time frame in 2010? Just trying to get an idea on whether they have a decent shot or should be prepared to move to DLH for one night if necessary. They do enjoy DLH but it would be preferable not to have move on the last night.

Just bumping this up. No one has made a reservation at 7 months for Dec.? How about other fairly popular times?

We booked for christmas time 2010 at around 9/8months for a studio and 2br with little problem. Fast forward to 6.5months... spotty availability (1 day here, 2 days there). I tried to add 1 room (any) for 3 nights in a row, no go.

Now, those are really high points requirement dates and holidays. Your dates being early in the month and a lot less in points I would assume a bit harder. Since the park has been decorated and people want to avoid staying there during crazy holiday break.
Again, this is IMO only.

Good luck.

Why don't your friend get some points transfered just for this time around? I don't know how much they're short... or maybe buy from disney for $15/pt if it's only a handful of pts short?
Or maybe you could rent them some and transfer the points to them?

Thanks for the info. Hmmm, I had forgotten about buying the points from Disney. I believe it's only 10 points so they hadn't figured renting/transferring would work out. But the buying thing might, just to be safe.

DVC won't rent you the points till the 7 month mark, I don't believe.

My thought: if it's a 1 bedroom or a studio then their chances are slim. With a 2 bedroom there is a better chance because there are double the amount of those.

Oh, o.k. Thanks for the head's up on the buying the points. Sounds like they'll have to figure something else out.

We booked a 1br at VGC for this Christmas at the 7 month mark for this year.... starts this Monday.

We were there right before Thanksgiving. Booked 4 nights before 7 mos. About 2 months before our trip, we decided that we wanted to stay an extra night. Nothing was available but I waitlisted and got it in just a couple of weeks. Hopefully they'll get it at 7, but else they should definitely waitlist.
