Expedition Everest: How bad IS it?

RnRC is much more intense than EE, IMO. EE actually has a really great balance, I think -- it is a serious roller coaster, much more so than Space Mountain or BTMRR -- but it is uber-smooth and the thrills are developed more through banked turns and speed than enormous drops. My favorite coaster at WDW. :)

I don't think rides at Disney are really that strong :rotfl: but then again I love roller coasters haha. I don't think the Splash Mountain drop is that impressive either BUT they are so much fun to ride. I think the last time I went to AK I probably rode EE about 4 times, it really is that good. EE is more about 'rapid' movements rather than drops, and it is extremely fun and exciting when it goes backwards.

I have done Space Mountain 5 times in a row. Felt fine. Did EE once and was a little headachy because of the backwards part. Then everyone wanted to do it again. Ok fine. Getting a little queasy, but turned my head during the backwards part and felt ok. Third time. My friend's daughter and I rode together. Shared a Sprite to calm down and then we both puked. Good times.....

Moral of the story-ride it once. Then if you like it-WAIT!!!

BTW, you really need to try Splash Mountain. You are going to laugh at yourself afterwards for being afraid of that drop.

I agree with this! you can do RnR and SM and Thunder, but havent tried splash? my goodness, far worse hills on some of those than what is on splash and the 10 minutes of ride before it are so fun and enjoyable, you really are missing out on a fantastic ride!

I hate getting wet and am one of those fools that wears a raincoat on the ride, but it is so enjoyable I risk the water

try EE and try splash. if you hate it, least you tried it and dont have to do it again

Hate coasters - always have, probably always will.

DH and I ride EE as single riders cause we can get off and get right back in line to do it again. :lmao:

It's not just a coaster - it's an experience.

I love coasters of all kinds. Not a huge fan of rides like TOT but fast rolling rides are a blast IMHO. If I were to rank WDW coasters from most intense to least it would be:

1. RnRC - Only one that goes upside down and that start is a rush. Great theming and rockin' music.

2. EE - Its a close second for me because of the backwards part in the pitch black.

3. SM - Dark jerky fun!

4. BTMRR - Family coaster. My kids absolutely love this ride especially at night.

5. Goofy's Barnstormer - Haven't ridden the newly themed version but its a good time.

I don't consider Splash Mtn. a coaster. The drop is big but the rest of the ride is so well done its a shame to miss it. Only time I'd stay away from it is on a cold day in FL. If I were being totally honest on intense rides based on my kids' reactions...hands down it would be Dinosaur.

First off, :welcome: , Ashley

I hate hate HATE the negative G-force at the beginning of Rock 'n Roller Coaster, but the last time I was there I rode it four times.
:thumbsup2 on the four rides!

Just to correct your misperception, that mild disorientation you feel at the launch of RnRC is actually due to the high G force to which you're being subjected. The rapid onset up to 5 G's causes a swirling motion in your semi-circular canals, and many experience that as a mild-to-moderate case of vertigo -- very disorienting because you're just sitting there in the seat moving very quickly in one direction.

It always, always makes me scream like a little girl (or how a little girl would sound if she was a 50+ year old man).

It's a lot like the force you feel on Mission: Space during the high-G portions of the ride -- the blast off, the mid-course correction, and the arrival on Mars.

I HATE drops, but Splash Mountain is not so bad and totally worth it for the rest of the ride. And the drop is not so bad.

I will never ride TOT.

I don't even remember that drop you see from the outside of EE. It's the inside, going backwards in the dark that got me. And that was bad only after riding it about 7 times (on different days) and deciding to keep my eyes open. For some reason having my eyes open in the dark made me nauseous :confused3

Hi Ashley,
If you can handle RnR, Space Mountain and BTMRR then you'll be fine on EE. It's the one ride we didn't buy the photo for as we looked utterly unimpressed with the ride on every picture - we must have rode it three times in a row trying to get a better picture!
Enjoy!
