Ok, we're leaving in 24 days and I'm already nervous about riding EE. I've read so many post about people getting sick and I just don't know what to do. I've watched the videos of the coaster and there's only one problem. The backwards part is the part I'm most nervous about and you can't tell anything from the videos because that portion is in the dark.
My question is, which part should I ride in, the front or the back?
:sad2:

I was nervous about riding it too but I did it and I would ride it again. What I did was take the less drowsy formula of Drammamine before going to the park. I sat in the middle-I've heard it said that that's the smoothest ride. Didn't get a choice in the matter, I lucked out. The backwards part IMHO, was not that bad-got a tiny little "head rush" and felt fine afterwards. Everyone is not the same obviously, so you may not agree.

I can't really offer advice on where to sit but I can offer some other advice. The backwards part freaked me out. I had never been on a coaster before and the pressure in my chest really scared me. As a result I rode most of the rest of it with my eyes shut. I think if I had just relaxed and opened my eyes I'd have felt a lot better when I got off of it. As it is I felt lousy for about an hour. So try not to freak yourself out and keep your eyes open!

I have only ridden it once. I was apprehensive about the backwards part when I heard about it too. The carnival rides that went backwards did me in as a kid. But it was nothing like that. The backwards part was smooth... it wasn't twisty or jerky. I found the ride to be along the lines of Big Thunder Rail Road in terms of impact. It was more fun than scary. The only part that did unnerve me was on the original assent up the mountain when the scenery falls away and you see how high up you are... the view is great, but holy cow!
I'd say, don't worry about the backwards part, and stay towards the middle so you elimate the worst of the extremes.

It is very very very very very very very very very very very very scary. :scared1:

JUST KIDDING :rotfl2:

I'm a roller coaster wimp--don't like WDW's Space Mountain, won't ever get on RnR, but I LOVE  Everest! I recommend the front--it's kinda slow-mo up there, and being able to see the track/Yeti--excellent! (Just keep your eyes open!) I'd read on the boards somewhere that it helps if you pull your head just a bit forward during the backwards parts. I did--and I was fine each time I rode (8 times total!)
Enjoy this most excellent ride! :sunny:

I think the front is smoother, maybe a bit slower, than the back. I really felt the 'g's' on the backward part when I rode near the back. It was a little RnR like back there! But it didn't seem to be as much when riding in front. Don't worry about keeping your eyes open, it is TOTALLY dark on the backwards part. You will 'see' the same thing whether your eyes are open or closed!

OMG!!!! I love, love, love this ride! I am the biggest baby in the world when it comes to roller coasters....although I love SM & BTMRR. I finally worked up the nerve in 2005 to try RnRC and it was Ok. But EE is awesome. I bormally don't like heights, but even when you're high up you can't really look straight down which is what does me in. But seeing the Earful Tower in MGM is awesome!! I can't wait to go back and ride this again.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I felt the same way before the ride. I asked a CM at EE how long/bad the backwards portion was and he told me it was about 20 seconds and that it feels like you're going in a loop. I'm SOOOO glad he said that because it prepared me and he was right. If I hadn't been given that info I think I would have freaked out a little bit. I did luck out and get in the middle (both times I rode) and I think that helped a lot. Another thing that helped me was looking down and to the side during the backwards part. I found a little bit of light shining up from below and focused on that. Hopefully some of this helps. Good luck!! :goodvibes

IMHO EE is a great "step up" coaster :thumbsup2 If you enjoy BTM and can ride that with out incident and think you can handle something a bit stronger, than EE is probably just the ticket to get your feet wet. There really isn't anything that should offer a shock. The initial climb looks daunting from the ground, but the drop is anti-climactic ;) and the backwards portion is really so short it hardly warrants mentioning

I understand too! Definitely go on it though - it's not too bad. Right about the time that the backwards part starts getting to me - it's over. It really is quick! And whole ride is worth the few seconds of my stomach flip-flopping! I think I've ridden towards the front, back, and middle and I don't remember there being any difference.

Have fun!

I thought it was a fairly gentle ride as roller coasters go, but then again I'm a coaster fanatic so YMMV. My DW is a coaster wimp too and she hasn't ridden it yet but she tells me she's going to give it a try in April based on my and my DD(10)'s testimonials from last April so I'll let you know how that goes. :)
