Expedition Everest... Backwards!

After reading these posts... I cannot wait to ride this coaster... My question is this.... Is it better than Rock-N-Roller Coaster? I'll be there for two whole weeks starting next Sunday!!!

I like RnR better. I rode them both for the first time in May. EE twice, RnR 3 times. I wish I could put RnR in my backyard. :)

i love EE! My ds5 rode it twice in a row. DS5 just made the height requirement. The first time we tried to get on they stopped him because he was too short. We came back 2 days later with his athletic shoes on instead of his sandals and he was able to ride. He loved it so much he rode with me then his Dad.

The dark part seemed very dark, but I have problems with seeing in the dark. I knew it went backward at some point but still wasn't expecting it. I screamed the whole ride!! It was also much faster than expected. I have back problems but it didn't bother them.

I like this much better than Rocknroller coaster. The theming is great and it seems longer than RnR

I feel the exact same way about Splash Mountain! My wife thinks I'm crazy, I bought the whole WDW Resort 2 disk album just for the Splash Mountain song! :goodvibes

Thanks for the video link Coolbeans! I can't wait now. I've been anxiously awaiting my first EE ride, and that just increased the excitement.

Does anyone recall when the photo is taken? I usually don't buy ride photos but hope to buy them this trip.

keep with the positives here...I like hearing its no big deal...
I'm a whoose!!!

I LOVE BTMRR  but HATE Space Mountain and I won't even try TOT or Rock n Rollercoaster :sad2: . Will I be able to handle EE? I've watched the video (thanks CoolBeans!) and the only part that really worries me is the backward part - I think!

If you can do RnR, Dinosaur, BTMRR and Splash, I think you can EE. But if you dare not brave RnR, I don't think you would like EE. RnR is the smoothest ride to me.

ok I'll do Space Mount. Splash BTMRR TOT but wont do RNR (I dont like things that go upside down...
but i know that EE is a helix...might feel wierd but I KNOW I'm not going upside down... :rotfl:
I'm a woose...but I'll try it just once...

I'm sorry. Dumb question.....What is a helix? :confused3 Are there any on RnR? I love RnR but I'm also a little nervous about the backwards part. I guess I won't know until I experience it first hand and I can't wait to do that! :cool1:

THanks for the video!!! 18 days and I will be riding it too!! I'm kind of a big baby about big coasters... BUT! I am doing this!

Basically, a helix is like the inversion on RnR. The dictionary version:

1 : something spiral in form: as a : an ornamental volute b : a coil formed by winding wire around a uniform tube
2 : the incurved rim of the external ear
3 : a curve traced on a cylinder or cone by the rotation of a point crossing its right sections at a constant oblique angle; broadly :

Motion sickness is an issue for me sooooooooooo I take bonine to start the day. The backwards part really got to my husband and I was the one okay. It is fast and seemed to me to round and round hte mountain.

I've been wondering about this, too, since motion sickness can be a real issue for me. Can someone give me an idea about how long the backwards portion lasts?? Are we talking 10-15 seconds . . . . . more?? . . . . . less??
Donna...I too am prone to motion sickness and I rode it with my son.

BIG MISTAKE on my part.

I was quesy all afternoon. I am luck that we live about 15 min from the parks, so we had gone there just to ride EE and were planning on heading home anyway.

After the backwards part, it not only gave me a headache for the rest of the day, but the rest of the ride was blurry. After I got off the ride, my vision cleared up, but I don't think I'll be going on it again, or at least not for a while.
I also thought it was kinda weird that it had that effect on me because I go on RnR, SM, BTMR, and SpaceM and I'm fine on all those.

:cheer2: bonnine rocks!

We all commented what a smooth ride EE was. I didn't seem to think the backwards part was a big deal. SM is much more rough IMO !

I rode Everest this summer, and probably will not ride it ever again.
The backwards part left me, and my family feeling sick and dizzy for about half a day afterwards. We never get motion sickness ever.
It really does feel like you're going upside down backwards, it really hurt my head. :sad2:
When we slowly started going backwards from the broken track, I remember thinking "oh this isn't so bad", until it got to the point where you're in complete darkness going around a bend backwards. Ouch.

Look at this link - it is 6 minutes, I think they captured the ride better. :)

Forget it, I cannot get the thing to paste the entire link! :(

It is on the same page, to the right.
