Hello to all,

I am back for more of your great advice and opinions!

I have ressie for a room only at the Pop for Nov 10 - 15 at 77.00 per night.

I am furiously searching for reasonable airfare from Syracuse NY to orlando to be able to make this quick trip a reality.

I was checking expedia last night and found airline tickets which departed in the evening which I need because I cannot get the 10th off, economy rental car, & five nights at Holiday Inn sunspree with a kitchenette for $1100.

What do you think of this price and hotel. We were at disney in July and stayed at the Pop. Should I just keep waiting for more codes??? Do you think the rate could drop or is the expedia quote pretty good???

I would REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSES!!!!

Did I mention I have not exactly let my husband know we are seriously thinking of going back sooooo soon!

He has three disney girls that are crazy about the world!!:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Your current Pop Century reservation is $429 or thereabouts. Take that from $1100 expedia price and you've got $671 left to cover flights and rental car. I don't know how expensive flights from Syracuse are...but I'm betting you can get flights for less than $200 each and a car rental for less than $271.

I'd stick with what you have and if codes come out....that much the better for your budget.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Actually the expedia quote including three airline tickets, and from the searching I have been doing thus far I don't think I am going to get cheaper than 200 a piece.

I guess that how a good a deal this is would depend on how many of you are going.

The $77/night rate is the rack rate for your dates. Chances are pretty good that there will be some sort of code for those dates that will bring the rate down but in order to compare what's on the table right now, you'll need to use that number. 5 nights, $77 per night with 11.5% room tax comes to $429.28.

At best, it will cost you $125 each for RT airfare and at least another $100 for the car. For a family of 3, that comes to another $475...and that's IF you can find that kind of airfare for the times you want and IF you can get a rental car that cheaply. That would bring the total price to around $900.

I guess it comes down to how lucky you feel and how much you're willing to wait in order to see if the prices come down. Personally, I think that if you're locked into those dates and need to depart & return at a certain time, you should go with the package deal that suits your needs. The difference in cost and the risk of not getting good airfare for the dates and times you need is not worth the potential savings, IMHO.

Probably you try it already. What airline does Expedia use?
can you get the same rate from the airline or other agencies such aaa?

I may not be a right person to give suggestion in this case, as I have never used expedia to book any package for myself. However, a few weeks ago, my BIL looked into booking via Expedia for air+hotel to WDW, after checking the codes, I agreed with them that Expedia gave a better rate, it was because the hotel rate on the hotel was cheaper than anything I could find. The hotel is Hilton in downtown WDW. But then after I had reserved the package for them, I found out that I could get it cheaper if I were to use a code either from mousesaves or wdwinfo + I got similar air ticket from aaa.

I always had the impression that it would be easier to make changes if I make the reservation seperately.

I am flying from upstate NY beginning of December for $158 plus tax round trip on US air. They did have some $98 flights but not the days I needed. Go right to thier web site or call them. Can you fly from a smaller airport close by or Rochester or Albany? I am also saving parking fees as the airport has free parking.

Unless you are planning to visit non-WDW places (i.e. Universal/Sea World) I'd stick with the Pop ressies. Staying on property means you don't have to bother with the car - you can either get transfers or just rent a car for the first/last days (you can pick up/drop off at the Swan and the Disney Car Care Center).

If you haven't checked around for airfare online yet, I'd suggest trying Travelocity. When you have your pointer over the "Flights" tab, you see a list of options. Click on the "Low Fare Alerts" and you can do a search to see what airlines have the lowest fares offered around the time you're traveling. It can take some time because it doesn't allow you to search by specific dates until after it lists the low fares available - and sometimes the dates you need aren't available for that date.

I did a very quick search for fares from SYR to MCO (Syracus to Orlando) and US Airways has flights on your dates for $123 RT. The latest flight leaving on 11/10 is at 6:55 PM. Once you've found a flight and fare that fits your needs, I'd suggest checking the airlines website to see if that fare is offered directly - sometimes they aren't. I did this for the tickets for DD and me because booking through the airline itself saved me the small fee Travelocity (and other online travel sites) charges.

In general, I've found booking things separately is cheaper than any package I found and I really prefer the ability to change some of the components closer to travel time, i.e. resort, if I get a rental car or town car service, etc. With a package, I really feel locked into these things because of the penalties for changes after a certain deadline.
