Wondering.

That's pretty amazing, isn't it. Just tried it and got exactly the same thing. Must be some sort of mistake somewhere. Either that, or they think people are really naive..

I suspect it's just a consequence of the way the rates are listed. I suspect the less expensive price is the one you'd get under the currently available promotions.

There are many that will not catch that... Not all that book Disney trips are as knowledgeable as some here. Remember we all share our tips and learn from each other. There are some out there that have never gone, never booked...and therefore will not catch that.

Me personally, I would bring it to the attention of Expedia if I were trying to book and that happened, but that is just me

Wondering.

Try Travelocity, they have the same deal right now ( 144 avg a nite ), but no free Magic Express charge. They have free Magic Express offered and when you book they give you the 800# to call up to 24 hours in advance to book Magic Express ( of course do it much earlier than that to get the luggage tags)

I checked your dates and they have them... here is the link

http://travel.travelocity.com/hotel...317898&tsHotelQKey=0&locLink=HOTELLIST1|DIS21

Use the code SMILE50 and get a extra $50 off the total too.

Thanks. I don´t pay 1300$ for the free magical express.:goodvibes
It just bugs me that expedia dont get investigated or blocked by Disney for doing this.
I do hotel searches almost daily so im pretty sure why expedia charge 1300$ for the free magical xpress.
----------
My concern are more that, after 9 weeks on doing this, they obviously do this to rob people and i which some one can put a STOP to this ROBBERY.
-----------
This this is what i figured out to be the case here. Still highly illegal (well i think so)
Expedia sells AKL room for 250 a night. This has the usual tag "with free transport"
Now expedia has a sale for 150 a night. Here they DO NOT put on the "tag"
So thats why we all get two prices on ALL Disney hotels in September.
And like in my case, expedia bills me 1300$ EXTRA for using the free Disney magical xpress transport (well im not paying that :lmao:,but im sure someone in the world has done it)

Roger

If they sell it to Expedia for $250, and it is currently $250 if you book directly with Disney... then Expedia has their sale for $150... if you cannot get this room for $150, but $250 from Disney, it is a deal. You just don't get free transportation. If that were the case, and I was going to save $100 per night over the rate Disney had it for, I would go for the $150 Expedia and pay for Mears to get me there... if I needed transportation from the airport. Do I make sense.. sounds confusing but I know what I am trying to say.

sure it is illegal if they are saying free transportation but then up the price, that isn't free then. False advertising by Expedia.. but if you really can save $100 per night thru them, it's a deal

I just checked what Disney's rates were for that time frame. I did check AP rates.. they were $139 a night...
so with that figure, I would think that the $150 rate for the room without the transportation is what the going rate is.. at Disney with transportation. So that leads me to think that Expedia is ripping people off with the higher room rate of $250

Okay, here's what I figure.

There's an error in Expedia's programs.

Here's what else I figure. Instead of worrying on a message board about the problem, the original poster should CONTACT EXPEDIA and point out the problem.

Respectfully, that's insulting to travelers in general.

True, many people who book Walt Disney World vacations aren't as knowledgeable as some of the posters here. But it's reasonable to think anyone who is able to book a vacation is able to tell the difference between "free" and "almost $1,400 extra"
Book a hotel stay only = $2,043
Book a hotel stay with free transportation from and to the airport = $3,405
Difference = $1,362

Now, even the most INexperienced traveler knows the difference between "free" and "1,362". The actual destination doesn't matter. I'm not in ANY way defending Expedia, but the traveler who agrees to pay $1,362 for free transportation is partly to blame, for accepting that price quote.

agree with katy! also, be aware of any vacation quote that "automatically" includes travel insurance. any savy traveler knows to check the bottom line price, and ask what is this for ? what is that for? if it includes options you will not use, don't buy it. (like the use of a spa, insurance, magical express, etc.)
now, to us, that would be a deal, since we ususally drive down. or, as a PP stated, use mears.
even on the phone with disney central reservations, they give us a quote, and we say, no.. not right (see, we've priced it before calling), the price should be X amount. what are you adding? then they say, "oh, don't you want the insurance?"

I didn't mean it as an insult, but there are more than a few people who just don't look at everything. They see the first cheap rate and jump on it..and in that case, they are being ripped off of the "free transportation". Then there are some that will not even compare.. no I am not insulting the average traveler ...Also there must be some that are booking it at that higher rate or that rate quote would have been off by now. OP states it has been this way for 9 weeks. You can't tell me in 9 weeks, Expedia hasn't seen their error.
seems I did mention for one to contact Expedia as well.. I think you left that out of my quote in your post....so I just added it in here so that we all are on the same post here... :upsidedow

Me personally, I would bring it to the attention of Expedia if I were trying to book and that happened, but that is just me

my point in a nut shell.. how many people really price out prior to calling to find out rates.. most here do, but I don't think everyone does... and you are correct, you must always ask what the bottom line number includes. There are places that tack things on, things you haven't asked for and don't want. You would never know this unless you asked...that is an informed shopper..:goodvibes

Hi again.
If the 150$ a night is a good deal or not (YES it is),has nothing at all to do with this). This concern ALL Disney hotels bookings @ expedia in Sept and the room price is not the issue here
--------------
I just try to point out the Expedia are NOT allowed to charge ANYTHING for Disney magical xpress.
And you will get free DME anyways,it just that expedia charge you 1300$ extra if they tell you that you get free DME.
------------------
And when they can charge 1300$ for a NOT sellable product (or lot more than that depending on your hotel choice) they could be under criminal investigation. They not allowed to charge a penny for DME.
---------
This is the world LARGEST hotel seller, they know that some people will book this (its been going on for 9,weeks),and expedia has been investigated before, and that resulted in millions of dollars in pay backs to consumers, because expedia charged to high hotel taxes on hotels.
---------------
Anyhow :lmao: It looks like everyone is fine with this way of running a business so :worship:
God Bless. I´m out out here.

I'm uncertain on how you conclude that "everyone is fine with this..." when most others on the thread have not condoned a business practice but have suggested that the company has made a posting error on their website. FWIW, I also think this is just an error.

I suspect that when Disney gave Expedia the language that they wanted used for the $150/nt entry that Expedia just posted it up rather than replacing the original $250/nt enrtry. (And that is where the Expedia postings come from - the hotel marketing departments - not from Expedia themselves.)

Though you point out that this has appeared for at least nine weeks and it seems as if it really bothers you, you don't seem to be willing to take the advice of our moderator who suggests that you contact Expedia and help them correct their error. Mistakes are made in business and in personal lives every day but if companies, and people, don't know that an error has been made how in the world can it be corrected?

Just my opinion,
Dick Taylor

Doesn't look to me like everyone is "fine with this way of running a business". In fact at least one person suggested you email Expedia AND Disney. Go for it.
