Okay, talk me down here, guys...

Just checked my e-mail and there's a change in itinerary for my December flights, booked through Expedia.ca. No biggie, hope the new times aren't awful... check it, they're not much different, whew. BUT we lost all our seat selections ... follow the link, make new seat selections, still seats available, whew. BUT there's a little notice printed in RED at the top of the itinerary saying "The status of this flight has changed from Purchased to Booked." And then where it's supposed to give me my airline ticket number so I can check everything directly through the airline, it says "check back in 24 hours"
:confused3

What's going on??? Should I worry? Are they about to tell me, "Sorry, we can't get you to Disney, start all over?" This is the first time I've ever used Expedia so I'm going a little crazy here.

Yikes. Sorry, that would be disconcerting. No experience to help, hope you get it straightened out soon.

I would call them (1-888-397-3342)( For piece of mind ) I have never used them for flights but i have for hotels and they solved the one problem I had Quickly

I would call them to make sure. But I believe all is fine.. I think they do this because technically you changed your reservations by picking seats. And since expedia isn't the airline, the seats you picked may have already been taken. Does that make sense? With an airline, you are given the most up to date seat map, so when you pick seats there confirmed and the person buying seats 5 minutes after you, would see your seats are now taken. with expedia they probably only update every few hours. So in the time you picked your seats with expedia, someone else may have already booked those seats before expedia sent your reservation changes over. So it's just a waiting period while they confirm your seat assignments with the airline.

I would still call expedia for immediate peace of mind, but I'm pretty sure all is well. :thumbsup2

Well, still haven't received an updated email, but when I check in to Expedia and check "My trips," it shows the flights as purchased, not booked again. But we've lost our seat assignments on 2 of the four flights. And, when I go to Continental directly (that's the airline for all 4 flights), it shows me we don't have seat assignments for two of the flights, but DIFFERENT FLIGHTS from the missing seat assignments on Expedia. And on both sites, it will let me proceed to seat selection all over again, showing lots of seats still available, but I can't get the assignments to stick...

I'm going to call. This is frustrating. But no seat assignments is way better than no tickets! Thanks, everybody.

Yes, call, and keep calling:)

Like someone else said, your seats are going through a "Need" phase to a confirmed phase, and it's just a time thing for Continental to catch up with the booking.

Everything should be fine, but if Continental re-schedules your flight again, or changes their assigned flight equipment (as the load changes), it'll muck your seat changes all up again:(

It's one of those things you have to keep on top of - unfortunately, "email me of any changes" doesn't always seems to work :confused3

HTH!

Keep us posted!

:sunny:

Well, it's all fixed... for the moment. They told me the same as jenkh and mbb said, it was the change in seat selections that triggered the ominous change from "purchased" to "booked." The Expedia rep says, however, that they are hooked into the same computer seat assignment system as Continental and if I can select the seat on the Expedia link, it means Continental has not assigned it... in other words, no time lapse for confirmation of seats. She couldn't understand why Continental's site had different seat assignments for us and strongly suggested that I should not go directly there, but do everything through Expedia. That makes me nervous, but then, I DID pay them a fee to be my agent, guess that means I should let them earn it!
