Just a heads up to anyone planning to be in the parks next week. International tourists will be allowed to enter USA from Monday 8 November. There is huge pent up demand from Europe as travel to USA has been banned since March 2020. The big three UK and Irish Airlines Virgin, BA and Aer Lingus are all flying to MCO on Monday 8th November and every day after that and I'm sure the flights will be very busy, as many people have cancelled and rebooked multiple times over the last 18 months.

Monday should not be busy in the parks as most people wont be going to the parks on arrival day, but expect Tuesday to be busy as everyone goes to the parks for the first time.

Also many people will have Genie+ as there is a special discount offer for UK and Irish people for the length of stay on the special 7, 14 and 21 day tickets.

Just because they're suddenly allowed doesn't mean most international tourists are going to fly in that particular day. International vacations - for most people, certainly for most families - require quite a bit of planning, and they didn't get a ton of notice on this! Plus many countries would still require them to quarantine when they get back home, or at least the kids would be required to before resuming school. So while this will be a factor going forward, I suspect saying that the floodgates will open on the first available day is probably not accurate.

Maybe. Many people have airline tickets or vouchers from trips cancelled due to the pandemic which have to be used before a certain date and have been postponing and replanning trips almost month by month in the hope that the US will open. From the U.K. vaccinated travellers to the US only need a negative LFT/antigen test within 3 days of flying and another one two days after returning to the U.K. so it isn’t particularly burdensome. Many childless adults will travel when the restrictions are lifted on 8 November and I would anticipate quite a rush when the schools finish for the two/three/four week Christmas holidays in December. I anticipate that there will be another surge of U.K. travellers to WDW in the summer. Only time will tell I suppose.

@Welsh_Dragon is correct. I'm on a UK Disney Form and there is a large number of posters booked on flights next week and many others have holidays booked between now and Christmas.

They are also reporting back from social media groups and again large numbers of UK and Irish people are booked for Walt Disney World holidays between now and Christmas.

European people by law have about 28 paid time off days for vacations every year, from the burger flipper in McDonalds to the CEO of an international corporation. There are huge numbers of people who have banked their paid time off in 2021 and now need to take time off before December 31 or they will loose it.

For Ireland, vaccinated adults do not need to test or quarantine on return to Ireland. We just need to fill out a passenger locator form. Its the same for all of the 27 EU countries since July 18, as The EU has implemented an EU Digital Covid Vaccine Cert.

I don't think Americans fully understand just how much the travel ban has affected the mental health of Europeans and how much pent up demand there is for travel to America and Disney Parks. Many of the people who had booked Walt Disney World for 2020 have just been rescheduling month by month. The travel agents have been on a big advertising push, social media , online advertising, as well as radio and TV for Walt Disney World holidays ever since the November removal of he travel ban was announced.

So now you have all the people who got cancelled in 2020 and 2021 as well as all the people who had originally been planning for 2022.

As an American who had to cancel two trips to Europe during the pandemic, believe me when I say that I understand the impact it had on mental health and the desire to travel! But the majority of us - even those who have vouchers and badly want to go overseas - mostly haven't been because of the concern that things are changing so quickly that by the time we go, we'll have different rules upon coming back. A few people I know in the same circumstances have gone abroad already, but most are planning not to try until next year...and we've been allowed to go to Europe longer than Europeans have been allowed to come here. So I'm sure that *some* will jump on it and come right away, but I would be stunned if it were a wave all at once such that on the first possible day there is a swarm at Disney.

Also don't forget that the land border is finally opening to recreational travelers between Canada / Mexico and the U.S. for the first time since March 2020. As a Canadian, believe me when I say there is going to be A TON of snowbirds driving down to Florida next week. Far more than those who would be flying down. Almost 4 million Canadians visit Florida every year and there is a lot of pent up demand.

I'll be there later this week - Park Pass availability remains fully open for the next 2 weeks except for MK on 11/11 and 11/12 to APs (and it is a holiday weekend), so the flood of people outside the USA can't be so great, can it?

I'm sure it will have some impact.

Can I just check if anyone was able to add Genie + to 2021 tickets at discounted rate because I was told no by Disney yesterday, discount only applies to 2022 tickets

That is correct. 2021 tickets can only get Genie+ added in person at the park ticket kiosks. As far as I know it can be added for full length of stay at the kiosks but it will be full price, not the advance UK discount price.

I am going to telephone Disney to try to add it to my son’s 2021 14 day ticket tomorrow. I will let you know if I get a different answer.

Pent up demand for international travel goes both ways! We want to go vacation in Europe! 😀

but you have not been banned for 18 months, its your choice or not to travel to Europe. Again Americans have no understanding of what it has been like to banned from travel for so long.

Totally! I was just expressing my overall strong desire to vacation in Europe, especially your lovely country Ireland!!

While not technically "banned," we would have had to quarantine for 2 weeks upon arrival and 2 weeks upon return. So it was still flat-out not an option for travel, because a 2-week trip to London would turn into 6 weeks. It wasn't a matter of choice until a couple months ago - it was a matter of being made so untenable and unworkable that virtually no one could have gone no matter how much they wanted to. Oh yeah: and most of the tourist spots weren't open anyway! We didn't use the word 'ban', but it was one and we knew it.
