Exotic Driving Experience?

I have not done this yet, but I have track experience and have rented track time up here in Ohio.

If you are treating your husband, I still don't know what DH means... haha, I would say it would be neat if that is what he is into.

The prices are very high for what you get, but I guess the cars are pretty exotic. The cheapest one though honestly is kind of lame. You could go rent a car from Hertz for the day cheaper than that and it would outperform it. Just my thoughts, if somebody was buying it for me I wouldn't turn it down though!

Thank you for the reply! Yeah, I was looking at the cars and I was thinking one of the lamborghinis :) Even though it's a ridiculous splurge, I think he drove a Porsche at Mid Ohio once for a business event. It sounds like it is a nearly 3 hr event so I'm justifying it by saying it's only about $100 an hour ;)

We're a little north of Akron, SE Cleveland suburbs.

DH=disney or dear husband, I think.

I mentioned it to him last night. He's a reluctant Disney visitor (but yes we joined DVC :)) and he was like "they have this in Orlando?" I explained WDW has a speedway/track and his eyes bugged out. He asked if we had to take a taxi, but it looks like we can just take the monorail to the TTC and get a shuttle there.

I think this will be motivating :) I told him we should do this every two years and he try a different car each time.

Very cool! Thanks for the dh info.

I live in Fairlawn, close to West Akron. I'm jealous of your DVC membership, I wish!

My wife was a reluctant Disney fan, now I think I have her convinced. Another event your husband may like is the all day behind the magic tour. We did it this summer and I thought it was very fascinating to hear all of the behind the scenes info and see how the place works. Might be a guy thing... haha.

Either way though I'm sure the driving experience would be cool to do, just wish it was cheaper and gave more time behind the wheel!

btw - getting to the track I believe the shuttle thing is there. If you have a car it is much quicker, but either way will work. I've visited the track just to take in the events that happen there. Kind of neat that it is on property, they used to actually have Indy races there when it first opened.

My hubby just did this last friday...he drove the Audi R8 and he STILL hasn't stopped talking about it. We are kinda cheap, so spending that money made me CRINGE, but he said it was worth EVERY penny and would do it again in a heartbeat. They even let him do 2 extra laps since they were not busy!

If he is a gearhead, or just loves exotic cars. I would say do it for him and I bet it will be a hit. While the 997 is a reasonable price, I would still say step up into something a little more on the exotic side.

I been lucky to play in many pricey vehicles. But I have been driving and racing for years and instruct for a handfull of different people putting on similar events about an hour and a half from my home.

I'm booking this for my DH for January. We're hoping to get the Ferrari 458 Italia. Yes, it's a ridiculous amount of money, but he's not too keen on going to Disney so I thought this would kind of make up for me dragging him there for my birthday :)

I got this for my husband's 50th birthday present, although the WDW track was booked so we ended up doing it in NJ when they took the cars on the road. He had a blast because he fancies himself a race car driver and takes his own cars (a Porsche Cayman and a MINI Cooper) to a local track a couple times a year. He picked the Ferrari 430 because how often do you get to drive one? I asked him if he'd do it again at his own expense and he said maybe. He said he might pick one of the less expensive cars the 2nd time because they all have plenty of power for the track; he's all about improving his skills or lap time or whatever.

As for me, bankrolling it...I still can't believe I paid that kind of money for it. I just don't understand that kind of thrill and I actually sort of dislike riding in his (our?)Porsche. On the other hand, I willingly paid a comparable amount to swim with a dolphin at Discovery Cove and would do it again in a heartbeat, so to each his or her own!

I treated my boyfriend to this a few years ago for his birthday and he LOVED it. Just be aware that they may cancel that day if there's inclement weather. my fb almost got rained out, luckily it held off until they were done! At the end of the experience he also received a coupon to try the exotic cars if he went again within 10 days I believe.

My wife got this for me for Christmas last year and I drove the Ferrari 458 while there in May. It was an awesome experience. They have areas where they limit the speed and then the instructor tells you where you can open it up.

They have an in car camera showing both you and the instructor in-sync with a front view camera along with audio. You can hear the rev of the engine while your watching the video. Of course, purchasing this is an extra fee but is a great souvenir. Wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Probably the only time I'll get a chance to drive a $300,000 car.
