Just wondering if anyone has done the Exotic Driving Experience or know anyone that has? I'm really contemplating doing it when we go this December. I would love to take that Lamborghini out for a few laps. It does cost a few bucks but when am I ever going to have a chance to do this?? :yay:

My DH drove the Lamborghini in January, it was his birthday gift. He had a great time, the staff was great and he wants to go back and drive another car when we are back in October.
Like you said, when else are you going to get a chance to do it?

Good to know, thanks for the reply. Did you purchase it through WDW? If so, if you don't mind me asking, how much was it through them? Orlandofuntickets.com has the Lambo experience for $269 so I'm trying to figure out if it's even worth it to deal with them. Thanks.

Oh boy.......my DH wants to do this and I think I'll book it fr him for our anniversary gift.

If you book this through someone other than Disney, can you still pick up the shuttle at the TTC?

Yes, you can.

My DH and I are doing the experience in August.....him in the Lambo Superleggera and me in the R8. Can't wait!!! :drive:

Not sure how I missed that site in my researching. Looks like the Orlandofuntickets.com site will save me $30. Thanks for the link!

Just FYI, get on their email list they have run some specials. I know before V-day they ran a buy one get one (buy 1 car add a second) that just had to be booked by v-day and the experience could be taken anytime during the year. The cars could be driven by different people.

I too was wondering about the exotic driving experience. My question is, are all the cars manuals? Or are there some automatics as well? I'm fine on a manual, but my wife would like to drive too and, unfortunately, she can't drive stick.

Thanks!

From what I've read, they are automatic

Thanks for this tip! Me and my husband want to do this in Oct and were thinking of poss booking it as an anniversary gift to each other. If we could get a Buy 1 get 1 that would be awesome!

Call me stupid, but couldn't you go to a dealership and do this for free?

A relative of mine bought a ridiculously expensive car. I'm going to ask him if he had to go through a bunch of hoopla to test drive one.

Eta: No hoopla. Said he called ahead to see if they had the very specific one he wanted, but when he went to make sure it had the head and leg room he needed, there was no hoopla.

I don't get the thing with cars, but if I wanted to drive one, I'd go the free route.

I don't think they let you stretch your foot out on a test drive tho. ;)

DH is looking forward to this one. The best gift I ever got him so far was the Richard Petty Driving Experience, but I think this will top that for sure. Thanks for the tip on Orlandfuntickets. :thumbsup2

Yeah - I mean why cant someone go down to the local Lambo dealer?! :rolleyes2

Dh did this last for an early father's day present. He though it was fun, but probably wouldn't do it again.

He drove the Superleggera.

From what I've read, they are automatic

They have paddle shifters in them. From what dh said, you don't have to use a clutch to change gears, there is a paddle that you push to change the gears. Being used to an manual transmission, he found that it took him a few laps to get used to the difference. He would have preferred a true manual.

A word on the shuttle, we waited almost 40 minutes for it. It didn't show up until after the time that dh was supposed to check in. But, I asked the driver if he would be returning as I needed to feed dds lunch but still wanted to watch dh drive. He said he would come back in an hour for us, so we hurried to the Poly for lunch.

I doubt a dealership, or the police, would let you drive at the speeds the let you on the track.

You can get a discount on the tickets through disboards also.

The experience is on an obstacle type road course(thru the middle of the course) as well as laps(along the banked track) on the speedway. As long as your instructor is comfortable with you, your speeds will far exceed what you could experience on a test drive. " This layout allows drivers to rapidly accelerate to high speeds while testing the deft handling and braking characteristics of some of the world’s most incredible supercars.

We have driven the IRL cars at this speedway and it is quite an experience. You don't go as fast with the exotics but speeds well over 100mph are not uncommon depending upon instructor and driver.

Okay, okay. I'm stupid! :duck:

I should have known it wasn't just driving ridiculously expensive cars. It's driving them fast, too. Should've guessed. People who like cars always like to drive them fast.

My relative that bought one got speeding ticket shortly after purchasing. He had to go fast, too. The cop that gave it to him went over all the crap they go over and handed him the ticket, adding, "By the way, man...it's a really nice car."

Men and cars. I just don't get it.

The speeding ticket prob was close to the cost of one of these experiences :P
