Exit 5 in SC or Exit 87 in Georgia

We will be stopping for an overnight at either exit 5 Hardeville in SC or Exit 87 Richmond Hill in Georgia. Has anyone ever stopped over at either of these exits?

I think you might prefer Richmond Hill in Georgia. Hardeeville area seems a little run down and unsafe to me. Plus in Georgia you are closer to Disney World the next morning when you leave.

We used to stop at that SC exit on our way to WDW. I agree with Byrd's observations. We've been stopping at exit 87 in Richmond Hills since late 1999. We stay at the Hampton Inn there. There is a restaurant down the street towards Richmond Hills - Southern Images - that serves good down home cooking at reasonable prices - sure beats greasy fast food .

We like Exit 87 better but you might want to consider Exit 109 Port Wentworth in GA. There is good lodging there and acceptable restaurants.

We always stop at Exit 94 Savannah in GA. It is a really nice exit with great hotels. We stay at the Clarion Inn and Suites, it's only a couple of years old at the most and it really is nice. There are TONS of places to eat there, my favorite Cracker Barrel, and there is a new Ruby Tuesdays.

Thank you all so much! I had already booked a room at the Hampton Inn at exit 87 and I will cancel my ressie for exit 5. I'll be sure to check out Southern Images too.

Just one more question, I'm leaving NY (Westchester county) at 2 am and want to drive no later than 6 pm. We will probably stop every 3-4 hours for about 10 minutes or so. Do you think we will reach exit 87 in Georgia?
