I have just started Weight Watchers a week ago and would like to start putting some exercise into plan. I've been doing some research on the Firm and would like to hear some opinions.

Mainly I'd like to know how hard it would be for someone who has over 150lbs to lose? Is it do-able?

I've never used it--but they intrigued me as well as this site:

http://www.t-tapp.com/home/

I tried a couple of the exercises they listed on the site and they did work. I plan to use them after I have my baby just to start getting things back to where they belong.

the key though to any exercise program--you will have to continuously challenge yourself (as in work to make it through the work out--once you start coasting..your body goes into maintenance mode and you don't get any increased benefits).

The Firm is great and it works really well. Some of the segments are REALLY, REALLY hard. I have the whole setup with the step-up box etc and I had a hard time even while not overweight. Sometimes my knees were SCREAMING!! But it is a very effective exercise program.

I bought the dvds and I tried it once...it kicked my butt.

Leslie Sansome has a series of excercise tapes that are more my speed called "Walk off Weight".

WW is great! I did it years ago and kept most of it off. I was 183 when I started and got to 137 I believe, now I struggle with the same 20lbs I always have. If I do nothing, I get to 150-155. I am getting pissed at that battle and thinking about going back for the last 20 battle. I walked twice a day when I was loosing and then once after that. Cold weather is making me lazy and I am aiming to get going again.

I don't know anything about The Firm and never heard of it, guess I'll follow this and see what I can learn.

I have The Firm tapes and boxes. The don't work unless you actually use them and by looking at my backside I haven't in quite sometime. That being said, yes they work. Stick with it and try not to do more than your joints can handle you will burn out. You will also need to supplement with walking or more aerobic exercise

I have used the FIRM- It does kick your butt. I dont have the newest version but I did notice firm thighs and arms after about a week of doing it.. So I guess it works. I really need to bust out the tapes again and start it again- since I am TOO doing Weight Watchers now.

Another comment:

The Firm is a great program to work up to. For a LONG time, I could never do a whole tape. And that's okay. I would do the portions that I could get through and that was enough. It was fun watching myself progress and do more on the tape as the weeks went by. Stepping up on the box REALLY works your legs and butt like nothing else. But it is also very tiring. With 150 extra pounds on you, it ain't gonna be easy, but I've seen many VERY strong women who are overweight so I don't think it is impossible. As long as you don't hurt your joints and overdo it you should be fine.

The Leslie Sansone tapes are wonderful also, but I find that I "mastered" them very quickly.

I agree, it works well, but I can't use the step provided because I hurt my right knee while doing the workout. I'm about 50 lbs overweight. I can use it without the step and I'm still challenged. I do use the step for the upper body work, so it can still be helpful. Overall, I love The Firm, but if you have knee problems wait and use the lowest step or start out without it.
