Exercise tips: Q & A

I have a couple of questions on different exercises:

1. When working out with weights...I am wanting to lose weight and tone but I do not want to bulk up. What is the most weight (hand weights) I should use for the best results?

2. Give me some really good belly buster ideas to get down to even finding my abs! This is a big time problem area for me and even with weight loss (still losing though) I just have the UGLY flab that I want out of my life forever...HELP!!!!!
 
Hi there,

1. Most women CAN'T bulk up. Your body isn't made to bulk up. For free-weights you can use dumbells or barbells. Start small. I would start off with 3/5/8 pound weights and move up as you get more fit. Your body is an amazing thing and you will be surprised at how quickly you can move up. Heavy dumbells for most women is 15-25 pounds. You would need to move into dumbells to lift more than that. There are some great workouts that use weights. You can easily find information on doing them yourself as well. I love the FIRM! You will smaller weights on your smaller muscles and heavier weight are your larger muscles.

2. You can't SPOT reduce your abs. I have ugly flab on my belly too, but when I do workout my abs I faithfully I can definately see some defination underneath, especially above my FLAB area. Again there are some great FIRM video's for AB work as well as other video's. The key is consistancy. If you get your ab muscles defined underneath, hopefully when you get to your goal weight you will start to see them. Just keep at it!!

I've had a few rough months of not exercising. This thread has made me want to go home and pop in a good FIRM tape. I'm going to make a commitment to do a Sculpt/Ab tape tape. Thanks for making me want to workout tonight.
