I have not exercised in the last week and I have gained almost 2 pounds. My eating has not changed significantly. I have come to the conclusion that losing weight for me is more about exercise than diet. Is anyone else like this? I am recommitting to exercising atleast 3 times a week (both cardio and strength training). I think I am actually going to schedule it into my calender so I have no excuses!

Good for you!! I have been having trouble getting motivated to exercise lately! I'm doing fine with my food but that will only take me so far on the healthy living road. I know I need to exercise.

Thanks for the reminder!! I can shed these extra pounds quicker if I get off my tushie and MOVE!!

I just started to exercise because my weight loss has really slowed down. I am hoping that this is the kick start my body needed.

Yes! YES! YES!
I need to exercise. I can starve myself and not lose, but if I eat between 15 and 17 hundred calories/day and exercise, it melts away like butter! Not only that, but I feel much better. Not sluggish from malnutrition, and muscle atrophy. I feel strong, energetic and more mentally alert. I don't ever really suffer from lack of motivation when it comes to exercise, I just let other things take priority, and pretty soon, like you said, I've gained a few pounds. I also think that regular exercise helps with water retention. I never feel quite as bloated when I've exercised. I have a pretty good schedule right now that allows for an hour/day, four days/week. Trouble is, Fri, Sat, and Sun I get wrapped up in family matters, and have a hard time getting my exercise in. I need to work on that. Maybe I should just get up and go to the gym at 5:30, before anyone else misses me, and "NEEDS"me. That would get me through Fri and Sat. Should I take Sunday off? NAH!

Keep the Faith!

I also find that doing the exercising makes you look better, I know people that are the same weight as I am but I am actually a size or so smaller than they are because I have less fat...even though there still is plenty of weight here.
I know that I feel a whole lot better, doing my walking has become a pleasure.

For me exercise is the key....it keeps my attitude up avoiding all those downs that happen when I have a bad week or feel out of control. I started out doing 30 minutes about 4x a week- that was good but I've noticed my body really is more efficient at losing weight if I do 5-6 days a week for over an hour (I walk 4 miles which takes me 1 hour 10 minutes) Plus my muscles feel very strong and my heart is really getting conditioned- I don't get out of breath anymore climbing steps-
Hopefully when I get within 20 pounds of goal- I'll be more committed to varying my exercise with tennis, nautilus, etc. But for now the walking is my rescue and it's helping me get lean and fit. And if I have an off week I really don't gain typically- because my body uses fuel much more efficiently- I know I sound like an auto advertisement- but I'm in complete agreement with you on this one! :)
I just get too down on myself if I don't exercise or I give in alot easier to my cravings/portion control if I don't get out and get the blood pumping! :)

Im starting to think I am the odd ball of this group!!!!!!!
I can exercise all day but my problem is with food! lol.
I walk 7 miles day 2 mile WATP in the am the 3 mile at noon and the 2 mile again at night! I go to Curves at least 4 times a week. and not to mention my ab work out out (only ten minutes daily) I do all this every day but saturday. Anyway I fell like I am exercising like crazy but my will power to eating healthy is shot!
I try believe me I try! just cant really stick to anything permently. Dont get me wrong I do good for a few days then I mess up! but then I get back on track. I feel like I am doing so much exercising and its not helping! See I got all the time in the world so exercising isnt a problem.....but I think because I got all the time in the world I use that time making bad choices!

I need to eat healthy AND exercise if I expect to lose. Eithor one alone does not work for me, but together I am able to get the lbs off! I really do feel better when I exercise, too. I find that checking in on the daily exercise thread keeps me motivated because I don't want to have to go there & say I didn't exercise. Hope to see some of you there!
