Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. Funerals are definitely not my preferred place to be either!

Yay for Jesse's first trip to the MK! Adventureland is a fabulous place to start, I love the Jungle Cruise too! :thumbsup2

Yay for being in MK!!! I have no problem admitting that I get tears in my eyes the first time I see Cinderella's Castle the first time each trip. Your pictures turned out great. Can't wait to read more about turning Jesse into a Disney-fanatic! Oh, and the Jesus pic is pretty funny, and I think it's cool that Jesse does that.

Lisa I haven't read your update yet because I wanted to tell you how sorry I am about your aunt. I feel the same way you do I want to be cremated and you can just scatter my ashes in the graveyard at Haunted Mansion. Seriously though I don't want money spent on a funeral and everything that goes with it.

I hope your mama's surgery goes well tomorrow and she comes out looking like a supermodel! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow.

OK now to go back and read your update.

First, I'm so sorry for the loss of your two aunts. Funerals are hard, no doubt. Prayers for you and for your family.

Now....YAY for being at the MK! LOVE the shot of Jesus!:rotfl:

Can't wait to see if Jesse "drinks the koolaid", so to speak! With a family full of Disney nuts for in-laws, he better!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt.

Your photopass pictures turned out great!:goodvibes Yay for the Jungle Cruise! It's always a must-do for us.:thumbsup2 We love it!

Hurrah!! Everyone's at the Magic Kingdom!!

That is a great soft doll! I make cloth dolls every now and then and was very impressed with the beard.

I also gave a not so involuntary "War Eagle" when I saw the gentleman with the Auburn pack headed into Adventure Land.

We did the tree house this time too. Last year we couldn't because there is no way my mom could make all those open stairs, so we just skipped it. I forgot how much fun it can be.

I'm 18 years younger than my eldest sister and we have pictures of me, age 5, with my arms crossed and glaring, back to my new brother in law in every picture. I also remember my sister and my mom trying to get me to have my picture taken with him. so I had to laugh when you said Hunter swore he'd break his sister up with whatever boyfriend was trying to marry her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. You've really been through the ringer lately. I hope that Mama's surgery goes well. :goodvibes

I could almost feel your excitement and was smiling right along with you as you entered the MK. I will always start my trips at that park, there's just something extra magical about it.

Love the story about Jesus's photo shoot. I have a sweatshirt and a purse that's traveled everywhere I've gone for the past 15 years. Not quite as meaningful as Jesus of course, but it doesn't feel like a trip for me without them. :rotfl:

When I read that you'd done the Treehouse first I was confused for a moment, but then thought "We'll they've got to show Jesse everything!" I can't wait to take a first timer again.

Can't wait to hear more!

Lisa - so sorry to hear that you were in a funk after your aunt's funeral. But I'm glad the funk is lifting. I don't dislike funerals simply because i have been at several where I really feel the deceased person's presence. I am really scared of the music they might play at might funeral. They tend to play "phantom of the opera" type organ music at the funerals in our Catholic church and I am seriously going to roll over and come back to life if I have to hear that at my funeral. :rotfl: Because, believe me - I'll know. :rotfl:

I hope everything goes well with momma's surgery tomorrow.

Kudos to Jesse for bringing his Jesus doll where ever he travels. I have never heard of anyone doing that and I really like that.

Great pictures - photopass and otherwise. So glad the whole family is finally reunited.

Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. Thinking of your family during this sad time. :grouphug:

What a great start to your MK day! With an appearance by none other than Jesus himself, before He was safely tucked away into a locker. Good for Jesse for finding it important to share the trip with his Lord.

I love all of the Photopass pictures!!! Really nice family shots.

Good start with the Treehouse and Jungle Cruise. Your next stop has got to be Pirates!

Ok, So I am just joining in your TR... better late than never right!

I have giggled so much reading your report that hubby has had to pause what he was watching on TV so he didn't miss anything! Oh well! I even read a few passages to him as well!

I am southern girl (born and raised in GA) but due to the military my last duty station was here in DC at Andrews AFB. So I am a "displaced" southerner. In any case, I say that to say that I understand a lot of what you are writing about and can hear the southern accent as I read! :D My momma woulda knocked the hat off the guy in the restaurant on the cruise... she don't play! lol

Anyway, I am on board now!

T

Welcome T! I'm glad to have you here! As you said, better late than never and there's still plenty more to come.

I'm glad that you and your hubby have had some laughs over what I have posted so far. We are a pretty easy going family (minus that little meltdown that I had on the last night of the cruise but I had an excuse for that ;))

Oh yeah, do read everything with a Southern accent 'cause my accent is very prominent.

Hope you'll continue reading along and commenting too!

I've probably said this before, but CBR is our home at the world too. It is such a nice, laid back, relaxing resort. Although I'd like to sneak a peek at the AoA, not necessarily stay there, but look around.

Glad to hear your DD & DS-in-law got there safe and sound.

Last week (it seems like a lifetime ago now, but it really was just a week ago Sunday) at EPCOT, we fast passed Soarin' but the stand-by was just 20 minutes. I don't think we even used the fast passes. :rolleyes1

Always ready to hear some more!

The AoA looks like a super cute resort doesn't it!?!

Oh gosh, what I wouldn't give for a 20 minute wait at Soarin'. I guess we've always hit it at busy times of the day.

So sorry to hear about your aunts. And I agree with you-it's always disturbing some of the things said at funerals when it's clear the officiant didn't know the person.
Prayers going out that your moms surgery goes smoothly and that things start looking up for you very soon.

Thank you so much! It's been a hard few months.

I'm so sorry about your aunt. I saw your posting on FB about the funeral. I don't blame you for not wanting one, don't think I do either!

Hope your funk goes away, I've been in one for the past week too. Writing on my TR has helped, so I hope doing an installment on yours helps you! And that your work slows down with less crazies :)

And hope Mama's surgery goes well!

Thanks! I am ready to shake this funk off and get back to writing!

My sympathies on your aunt's passing. It can be so hard to think about happy stuff and write TRs when there's sadness around you. I'm sure it's a tough time for your family.
I hope your mom's surgery goes well!!

For the record - I feel like you about funerals. Unless there's a way to make them an actual celebration of the person's life, I do not want to be a part of it. It seems that it's just a thing you have to "get through" in order to start a life without that person. I don't like that idea.

Hope things start looking brighter soon!

I appreciate your sympathies. It's been hard to get in the mood to write but I'm slowly coming around.

When my uncle found out that he had cancer of the throat, he told everybody that he wanted the church and all his friends and family to gather together and have a party so that he could come too. It was a fantastic celebration!

My prayers are for your family at this time of mourning. And I hope Mama's surgery went off without a hitch.

I don't like attending funerals either: mostly because the funerals I have had to attend were my Dad's and brother's. Although, I did start laughing in the middle of my Dad's funeral. The officiant did not know Dad well and, trying to take in the things she had heard about him at the church, said something about him "talking and discussing with the saints and great minds that went before." My dad was the ultimate Devil's Advocate. Even if he believed one way, he'd ask questions from the other side, just to keep you on your toes and thinking. I remember thinking when she said that "You mean arguing with..." and that made me laugh. Which I do too often in church anyway.

Anyway, peace be with you.

Thank you!

It seems like we've had a lot of deaths in our family over the last two years....my brother-in-law, his brother, my two aunts and then a family friend.

I am glad that you posted your story of getting the giggles at your Dad's funeral. It made me smile and I'm sure that you can look back at it and smile too.

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I hope Mama's surgery goes well.

I'm sure it must have been a lot of fun bring a first timer into MK for the very first time. I can feel the excitement in your writing!

Several years ago I was part of another message board and we were a pretty small community. It was our love of the game Myst that brought us together, so one day one member made a ceramic Squee (a character in the game). Then we spent a year or two just passing it around from member to member, each taking it somewhere special and take pictures. So I totally understand the taking picture of a doll in Disney.

Great update Lisa! So glad to see all of you back together in the world!
Sorry to hear about you Aunt. Were both of them your mama's sisters? She has had a tough year too. I thought that it was interesting that you mentioned not wanting a funeral, everone that has passed on my husband's side of the family had decided to donate their body to science which seemed weird to me (I come from a get yourself a plot to be buried kind of a family) but after 12yrs of marriage it just seems normal now when that happens. Also my husband's parents are missionaries and have always made it known if they die while in a foreign country while on a mission they wish to be left there and not brought home...that still does not sit very well with any of us but what do you do right? Anyways sorry about all of this morbid talk but you started it! lol just kidding!

One of the aunts was my mother's sister and the other was my dad's sister. It has been a tough year for all of us, especially Mama.

I come from an old school family as well. Honestly, I don't mind if they just donate my organs and then bury what's left of me. Whatever they want to do besides a funeral.

I kinda sorta understand your husband's parents' way of thinking. I guess they feel they should be laid to rest where God put them at the time of their passing. Does that make sense? Did I say that right?

No need to apologize for "morbid talk". Like you said, I did start it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. Funerals are definitely not my preferred place to be either!

Yay for Jesse's first trip to the MK! Adventureland is a fabulous place to start, I love the Jungle Cruise too! :thumbsup2

Thank You!

I was so excited to show Jesse everything that the Magic Kingdom had to offer!

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who gets weepy when they see the castle.

Jesse has taken the Jesus doll all over the place and he knew that he just HAD to have Jesus in a picture.

Lisa I haven't read your update yet because I wanted to tell you how sorry I am about your aunt. I feel the same way you do I want to be cremated and you can just scatter my ashes in the graveyard at Haunted Mansion. I appreciate our sympathies. It's absolutely ridiculous what a funeral can cost. We do successions at our law office and every time I see the cost of a funeral, it turns my stomach. The funeral homes know that they can charge whatever they want because a grieving family wants nothing but the best for their departed loved one.

Mama said that she's looking forward to the eye lid surgery but does not want to come out looking like "a hoot owl". :lmao:

First, I'm so sorry for the loss of your two aunts. Funerals are hard, no doubt. Prayers for you and for your family.

Now....YAY for being at the MK! LOVE the shot of Jesus!:rotfl:

Can't wait to see if Jesse "drinks the koolaid", so to speak! With a family full of Disney nuts for in-laws, he better!!

Thanks Missy!

Wasn't the picture of Jesus the best?! I was so happy that the Photopass photographer had no problem taking the pictures.

I'll go ahead and reveal now that Jesse was gulping down the Koolaid!

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt.

Your photopass pictures turned out great!:goodvibes Yay for the Jungle Cruise! It's always a must-do for us.:thumbsup2 We love it!

Thank you!

I love the Jungle Cruise and have to ride it at least once every trip. Sometimes even twice.

Hurrah!! Everyone's at the Magic Kingdom!!

I have no idea where Jesse got the doll. I'm pretty sure I remember him saying someone made it for him. I'll have to ask him.

I know that we'll have to skip the treehouse next trip too because of my Mama. There's no way she could climb all of those stairs.

The story of you glaring at our brother in law made me smile. That sounds just like what Hunter said he was going to do if Lacey ever got married. He was serious as sin too!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. You've really been through the ringer lately. I hope that Mama's surgery goes well. :goodvibes

I'm glad that I decided to write my installment today because I felt that excitement all over again. I needed that!

Okay, so now you gotta post a picture of the purse and sweatshirt on your trip report so I can see them!

Lisa - so sorry to hear that you were in a funk after your aunt's funeral. But I'm glad the funk is lifting. I'm slowly shaking off the funk. For some people, funerals are necessary for them to have closure and they get a peaceful feeling from them. I'm just the opposite. Oh Lordy, if they are playing the organ music at your funeral and you decide to start coming back to life, I'm going to run for the hills!

Jesus is a well traveled doll. He's even been to Argentina on a mission trip.

Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. Thinking of your family during this sad time. :grouphug:

Thanks Dee! The last few months have been pretty hard on my mother as well as the rest of the family. Now that Mama's getting older (she'll be 79 in January), she's thinking about all of the loved ones that she's lost and is questioning how much longer she, herself, will be on this Earth.

I'm pretty sure that Jesus forgave Jesse for stuffing him in a locker all day. :rotfl:

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I hope Mama's surgery goes well.

I'm sure it must have been a lot of fun bring a first timer into MK for the very first time. I can feel the excitement in your writing!

Thank you! I hope that your sweet little Claudia is helping you to recover from your loss as well.

How cool that ya'll had the Squee to pass around and take on trips! That's a neat idea.

So sorry about your aunt.

Great MK update! I had to look twice, the one picture looked like I was walking through, black shirt and jean shorts. Not sure if that's me or not. I don't see dh, but I do see a stroller in front of me, so it's possible. Nice pics of JC both Jesus and the jungle cruise ;)

I am so sorry for your loss...

I love that Jesus was on your trip! That's awesome! I love the jungle cruise - and one of these days I am going to find the hidden mickey in the elephants.... one of these days!

T

Hi Lisa!!! Again, I am so sorry for your loss!

Great update! Love seeing your whole family together for a trip to Disney!!! It's such a wonderful feeling I'm sure! :goodvibes That is too funny about the Jesus doll! I'm sure Jesus approves!! :thumbsup2 I showed Emma the picture of Jesus & she knew exactly who it was!!! LOL! Guess my teachings are working! This past week I have been teaching her to say a prayer! She's getting there! She is just too funny because everytime I say it is time for our prayer she says, "we have to go to church!" :rotfl: Too funny! Anyway! Can't wait to hear more about your day at Magic Kingdom!!!

BTW, have you noticed my ticker??!! This is SO real!!! I have been planning & planning! It's all I talk about now!!!

Loved the update Lisa!

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. It's never easy losing someone, but two in four months has got to be unbearable.

I love the story of Jesse and the Jesus doll. I can say out of all the trip reports I've read and the pictures I've looked at I've never seen Jesus at Disney. I love it!

I am so sorry for your lose of your Aunt and a 2nd lose in 4 months is enough to put anyone in a funk. You are so strong!!

Glad you and your family were reunited and enjoying the best time ever in the best place ever!! :thumbsup2 oh and we can't forget that you had a Jesus photo shoot.

Great photopass pictures! And most importantly, you are ALL there.

I love the Treehouse, not it's not a must do but it makes me happy. 10 minutes on the Jungle Cruise??

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hi Lisa. We are back. CBR was beautiful. Not many changes since my last stay in 1996 (except for the room refubs). Wish we'd had more time to enjoy lazing around the resort.
Loved your update. Your photopass pics were great! Yay for family all being together again and enjoying a happy place! And I love that you get to see everything through a newbie's eyes. I think I most enjoyed listening to the 1st timers comments this trip. It is so much fun to learn their new discoveries (especially to remember back to when it was your own 1st time). But only true Disney dorks ;) get that feeling I think. The rest of the world just thinks we're nuts.:rotfl2:
So sorry to hear about your aunt. Will keep your family in thoughts and prayers. I'm sure it is a difficult time.
